Job Title:
Site Athletic Director
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
Current New Mexico Public Education Department Level 3B Administrative License or ability to apply and receive within 90 days; and
Head Coach experience at the high school level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Efficient organizational ability;
Professional written and oral communication skills;
Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters;
Strong Athletic background as former athlete and coach; and
Level of knowledge regarding fitness, athletic skills, specific sports techniques, and strength training.
Essential Job Responsibilities The Site Athletic Coordinator manages the athletic program at the assigned site by performing the following:
Ensures the uniform implementation of all RRPS Athletic Program rules, regulations, policies and procedures at the coordinator’s assigned site;
Completes and maintains all required paperwork for eligibility petitions to be filed with the NMAA;
Assigns and trains support personnel for all site athletic events and home games held in the Rio Rancho athletics complexes;
Maintains accurate equipment and supply inventories for all site programs;
Inspects site facilities on a regular basis and provides recommendations for their maintenance and care to the District Athletic Director;
Meets regularly with site head coaches to disseminate information, gather data and serve as liaison to the District Athletic Directors;
Serves as chair of site Athletic Advisory Committee;
Serves as member of RRPS Athletic Advisory Committee;
Serves as site representative for NMAA district functions, to include state tournament seeding committees;
Serves as site representative for NMAA committees, to include sport-specific, sports medicine, hardship or other established or ad hoc committees as requested;
Assists the RRPS Athletic Director and principals in the recruitment, selection, and assignment of coaches;
Assists the RRPS Athletic Director in the establishment of site budget, transportation, scheduling and record keeping;
Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the district during the term of employment.
Work Hours Work hours are established in the employment contract. Additional work hours may be assigned by the School Principal within the parameters of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
