Founding Chief of Staff - BOS Product Architect
Maxmodus, Centerport, NY, United States
This is a
foundational product leadership role focused on building the intelligence layer of the BOS platform .
The role sits
between the founder’s vision and the engineering team , translating business insight into working AI systems. Working closely with the founder, you will be the connective tissue between the founder's vision and the product — translating strategy into systems.
You will not be expected to build the entire platform yourself. Two developers are already building the infrastructure.
Instead, you will
design the system, guide development, and shape how the AI understands and improves business workflows and operations.
The role requires:
Systems thinking
Product architecture
Understanding of business workflows
Ability to guide engineers
Ability to design AI interrogation logic
Current State of the Product
Two software developers are actively building the system
We use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code) to accelerate development
The core interrogation agent already exists
We are in an advanced stage of creating an agent that uncovers:
Repetitive or redundant tasks
Manual processes that could be automated
Bottlenecks that slow work down
Steps that feel unnecessary or inefficient
Lack of visibility across workflow handoffs
The next step is to implement it in 4-5 firms and make it functional.
In phase 2, we’ll create an agent that transforms these insights into a roadmap to streamline tax practice operations, increase profitability, and reduce employees' workload.
Core Responsibilities 1. Architect the BOS Intelligence Layer Design how the system interprets employee input and converts it into structured business knowledge.
This includes:
workflow modeling
process analysis frameworks
2. Guide Product Development Work closely with two developers to guide system design and implementation.
Responsibilities include:
prioritizing development work
ensuring the architecture supports long-term scalability
Deep coding expertise is
not required , but a strong technical understanding is important.
3. Design the AI Interrogation System Improve and expand the agent that interrogates employees about their work.
Focus areas include:
deeper workflow discovery
extracting structured process knowledge
identifying optimization opportunities
4. Transform Insights into Optimization The system should move from observation → diagnosis → improvement.
identify inefficiencies
improve workflow visibility
surface opportunities for process redesign
5. Validate with Real Businesses Run pilots with tax and accounting firms and refine the system using real-world feedback.
6. Build the Replication Engine The tax and accounting vertical is the proving ground, not the destination. Once the discovery and optimization framework works for one industry, your job is to ensure it can be replicated — faster, smarter, and with compounding advantage — across every vertical we enter.
Abstracting the framework so that industry-specific knowledge (terminology, roles, workflows, compliance patterns) can be layered onto a common intelligence architecture without rebuilding from scratch
Designing the pattern library — the system that captures what we learn across 10, 20, 100 client deployments and turns repeated observations into benchmarks, recommendations, and predictions
Building the vertical expansion playbook so that entering a new industry (legal, healthcare, professional services) takes weeks, not months
Thinking about the data moat — how does the system get meaningfully smarter with each deployment, and how does that intelligence become increasingly difficult for a competitor to replicate?
Ideal Candidate Profile This role is ideal for someone who:
thinks in systems
enjoys solving complex operational problems
understands AI capabilities and limitations
can translate business problems into product logic
enjoys building new categories of software
You do
not
need to be a deep infrastructure engineer.
However, you should be comfortable guiding developers and shaping technical architecture.
Salary: $275K - $325K commensurate with experience
