Ship Designer (Hull/Structural)
to support vessel design projects at a shipyard in
Pascagoula, Mississippi . In this role, you will create detailed layouts, drawings, and technical design documentation using advanced drafting techniques. You’ll work from engineering specifications and transform them into practical structural designs used in ship construction and repair. Strong proficiency in
ShipConstructor
software is required. Responsibilities
Create detailed structural designs and drawings for ship components (vessel hull components). Work closely with engineers and other design teams to ensure drawings are accurate and aligned across disciplines. Review drawings for accuracy and occasionally visit the production floor to see how designs are being built. Follow company CAD standards and design guidelines to ensure consistency across projects. Select appropriate materials and apply established shipbuilding practices when developing designs. Ensure designs meet project requirements and applicable industry regulations. Maintain proper documentation and follow internal design change and revision processes. Review and incorporate technical information provided by vendors and suppliers. Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the design process. Update designs based on feedback from clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Solid grasp of design principles and CAD drafting techniques. Required : Proficiency with
ShipConstructor
software. Basic understanding of manufacturing methods. Familiarity with industry regulations and standards. Proficient in design software and drafting tools. Experience
Minimum
6+ years
of relevant design experience. Experience & Training Requirements
Completion of 2 years of college-level coursework (equivalent to an AA degree) in Industrial Technology or a related discipline.
