Job Description The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for producing high-impact, brand-aligned internal content by utilizing strong writing, interviewing, and editorial judgment. This role focuses on storytelling and editorial execution across firmwide channels, translating business priorities and leadership messages into clear, engaging communications. The Internal Communications Specialist plays a key role in supporting internal communications strategy by applying best practices in channel use, content structure, and storytelling to maximize clarity, engagement, and effectiveness across platforms. This position relies on strong digital and technical fluency, as well as an understanding of how layout, formatting, and presentation influence how messages are consumed.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Content creation and storytelling
Write and produce high-visibility internal communications, including spotlights and feature stories for the firm’s weekly internal newsletter, leadership content, and campaign messaging
Lead planning and execution of spotlights for the firm’s weekly internal newsletter, including story development and editorial calendars
Conduct interviews with firm leaders, lawyers, and business professionals to develop compelling, on-brand internal stories
Apply strong editorial judgment to shape narratives, messaging, and story flow
Develop content for major firmwide campaigns and initiatives
Internal communications and content strategy
Develop internal communications strategies for campaigns and initiatives
Shape and adapt content for different channels, applying brand, voice, and storytelling best practices
Determine appropriate content structure, hierarchy, and formatting based on channel, audience, and objective
Ensure consistency of tone, message clarity, and calls to action across communications
Channel management and optimization
Build and produce the firm’s weekly internal newsletter using Eloqua or similar platforms, ensuring brand and visual consistency
Manage and optimize content within the firm’s intranet, applying website and intranet content best practicesLead regular intranet content audits and updates to ensure information remains current, clear, and on brand
Analyze engagement trends and content performance and provide recommendations to improve effectiveness
Collaborate closely with the internal communications coordinator to ensure smooth execution, publishing, and follow-through
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in journalism, communications, or a related field strongly preferred
At least 4 – 6 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, editorial, content, or related roles
Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and interviewing
Strong understanding of internal communications and digital content best practices
Experience with intranet platforms (SharePoint or similar) and content management best practices
Experience with email or marketing automation platforms (e.g., Eloqua or similar)
Strong understanding of storytelling and formatting best practices across channels and mediums
Strong understanding of brand application, tone, and visual presentation
Excellent editorial judgment and ability to synthesize complex information
Experience working with senior stakeholders or subject‑matter experts
Ability to manage multiple content streams simultaneously
Technologically savvy, with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred

Target Hiring Range $83,000 - $115,000
Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
