Summer Internship Program ACP is proud to offer a summer internship program which runs for approximately 8 weeks from Tuesday, June 16 – Thursday, August 6, 2026. These positions are required to work on a hybrid office schedule out of our Washington, DC headquarters and, as such, applicants must be local to the DC area or able to relocate to DC for the 8‑week period. Internships are paid $20/hour on a semi‑monthly pay schedule.
Position Overview The Business Development & Event Sales Intern contributes to ACP’s efforts to build and maintain partnerships that support conferences, programs, and organizational initiatives. This role provides exposure to sponsorship strategy, partner engagement, and the coordination required to support event‑based revenue and member engagement.
Working closely with the Business Development and Events teams, the intern will contribute to research, outreach coordination, and partner tracking while gaining insight into how partnerships are developed, managed, and fulfilled within a mission‑driven organization.

Contribute to market and industry research related to potential sponsors, partners, and event opportunities.
Help track and organize partner engagement across ACP events and programs using internal systems and databases.
Maintain and update business development records to ensure accurate tracking of outreach, engagement, and follow‑up activity.
Participate in outreach initiatives to prospective sponsors and partners, including coordination of email campaigns and follow‑up materials.
Collaborate with the marketing team to support visibility and engagement for ACP events and sponsorship initiatives.
Contribute to the development of sponsorship materials, sales presentations, and proposal content.
Work with cross‑functional teams, including events, education, and operations, to support alignment of event planning and partner needs.
Help coordinate partner deliverables such as logos, certificates of insurance, payments, and sponsorship materials.
Support general project coordination tasks, including documentation, reporting, meeting notes, and system updates.
Summer Project & Professional Development Over the course of the summer, the intern will contribute to one or more defined focus areas related to partner engagement and event sales. The scope of this work will be refined during the first week of the internship based on team priorities and the intern’s interests.
Through this experience, the intern will have the opportunity to:
Build an understanding of how sponsorships and partnerships support large‑scale industry events.
Gain experience supporting partner outreach, tracking, and relationship management.
Develop skills in research, communication, and project coordination.
Learn how business development efforts align with marketing, events, and organizational strategy.
Gain exposure to sales and partnership workflows within a nonprofit trade association.
Qualifications Required:
Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, with an interest in business development, events, marketing, hospitality, clean energy, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred (but Not Required)
Relevant coursework or prior internship experience related to sales, events, or partnership development.
Familiarity with CRM platforms or databases.
Experience working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Interest in clean energy, sustainability, or mission‑driven organizations.
Job Conditions ACP operates in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with an ambitious agenda and a highly motivated staff. Interns will be supported by their manager and team as they learn and contribute to work with real deadlines and priorities.
This role may involve working across multiple tasks and adapting to shifting timelines with guidance. Occasional travel or event‑related work outside standard business hours may be available depending on team needs.
