Editorial Assistant

to join our Publishing department.

Position Objective/General Purpose Provide editorial support to periodicals staff and, as necessary, to the Publishing Department. Support the daily operations of the periodicals editorial office and assist editors with the publication and dissemination of technical content.

Essential Job Functions

Monitor and manage online peer-review system for association scholarly journal

Perform quality checks on submitted manuscripts; assist authors with submissions

Track in-progress reviews and send reminders to editors, reviewers, and authors

Review and process manuscript decisions, perform post-acceptance checks, and export accepted manuscripts for production

Work on special projects, including but not limited to, data entry, collating information, and quality control

Coordinate content delivery to online publication channels

Collect and submit appropriate editorial metadata

Review and edit content to ensure accuracy

Prepare and approve online member issue alerts

Proofread articles and other content as needed

Monitor publications’ email inboxes and distribute or respond to email as appropriate

Assist editors with editorial boards, oversee the board roles and functions, and complete any related administrative duties

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education, Certification or Formal Training Bachelor’s degree in related field required

Work Experience (including computer skills)

Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in publishing

Demonstrated experience of industry editorial standards (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style Guide) required

Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required; working knowledge of Adobe products and experience with online publishing tools

Understanding of scholarly publishing and manuscript online submission systems preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The targeted pay is $52,500 to $65,600 per year depending on experience and is paired with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

Three separate paid time off accounts (Vacation, Sick and Personal)

Immediate eligibility and vesting for retirement savings plan with a

3% employer contribution and up to 3% company match upon hire

Excellent medical, dental and vision plans with generous cost sharing by employer

$250 payment towards the cost of at-home computer equipment
