The Role:
We are rapidly expanding and looking to build a dynamic team of Business Development professionals focused on our National Partners.
The National Partners Business Development Associate (BDA)
is responsible for turning distribution relationships into tangible economic value—activating the right partners, accelerating them toward consistent production, and continuously sharpening the portfolio to ensure growth is intentional, scalable, and repeatable. This role reports directly to the Director of Growth and Distribution Strategy.
This role involves managing a portfolio of established and newly onboarded partners within the National Partners channel, with a
primary focus on driving engagement through high-volume outbound activity and strategic follow-up.
We are looking for an owner who doesn’t just grow premium but builds a system and partner ecosystem that makes growth inevitable.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Prospecting : Discover and evaluate exciting new National Partner opportunities that align with our strategic goals, volume expectations, and quality standards.
High-Volume Outreach : Keep up an engaging routine of at least 40 proactive outreach activities each week (including calls and meetings) to foster pipeline growth and partner activation.
Drive Distribution & Premium : Work hand-in-hand with underwriting, marketing, and growth teams to craft and implement distribution strategies that consistently drive partner premium within the National Partners segment.
Portfolio Activation & Management : Manage a portfolio of National Partners, focusing on activating “passive” relationships and boosting new partner offices to submission activities within 90 days.
Submission Growth : Propel a 100% year-over-year growth in submissions through consistent outreach, diligent follow-up, and targeted engagement with partners.
Performance Reporting : Set, monitor, and share insights on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as submission trends and activation timelines, while consistently achieving or surpassing growth targets.
Process Improvement : Play a key role in enhancing partner management and onboarding processes to ensure a quicker path to premium.
CRM Discipline : Ensure utmost accuracy in HubSpot by promptly updating partner interactions, notes, and performance metrics to facilitate informed decision-making.
Brand Advocacy : Foster a positive brand image throughout the Networks channel with professional, ongoing outreach and supportive consultations.
Requirements:
3+ years in a fast-paced sales role
Experience in onboarding and guiding new customers to realize and repeat value
Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to discuss technical and business topics seamlessly
Strong phone and video skills, maintaining professionalism under pressure
Experience with disciplined execution of challenging opportunities that lead to results
Desired Qualifications/Skills: Consultative Sales & Deal Coaching Skills:
Ability to identify issues and coach agents through the sales funnel by diving into individual submissions and collaborating with partners on opportunities
High-volume outreach and Structured Sales Execution:
Mastery of multi-channel outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn, and in-person) using repeatable cadences
Ability to run effective discovery meetings and consistently secure next steps
Experience moving prospects efficiently from first touch to bind
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field
Have experience in Metabase or similar software to pull, review, and analyze data
Travel Requirements: This role is on-site at our Lower Manhattan office and primarily digital, with occasional travel (approximately 10–15%) required as needed.
At Cover Whale, we are committed to fostering a culture of transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. For this position, you can expect a base salary ranging from $65,000.00 to $91,000.00 annually. The final salary will be influenced by various factors, such as your experience in the insurance sector, your unique skill set, and your location. It's important to note that base pay is just one element of our comprehensive compensation package, which also includes an annual discretionary bonus opportunity, in addition to:
401(k) company match up to 4 %
