
Corporate Communications Intern

Trustmark is seeking a Communications intern for our 2026 Summer Internship Program, which runs from June 1 to August 7. We are looking for an individual who is interested in getting hands‑on experience in corporate communications, including PR, employee engagement, and content creation in support of key enterprise initiatives. The ideal intern should possess strong initiative, be detail oriented and demonstrate excellent oral/written communication skills, and should have prior experience with PR activities.
Work under the supervision of the Executive Director of Strategic Communications and collaborate with others across the organization. Among other activities, responsible for conducting an audit of Trustmark’s PR activities and make recommendations to increase our external presence/visibility. Draft content for internal channels and the Trustmark website. Success in this role will be demonstrated by delivering high‑quality, timely work under minimal supervision, helping to educate, inform, and engage employees and external audiences on telling the Trustmark story.
Key Accountabilities
Conduct audit of enterprise PR activities: 1. Work with business units (BUs) to review and capture the current PR approach, Trustmark topics covered, types of placements, etc. 2. Monitor industry trends and competitor news to identify potential PR topics/opportunities. 3. Recommend good/better/best ways to build our external presence. 4. Develop a PR questionnaire. 5. Create a media pitch and work with BU or vendor to get placements. 6. Work with website manager to help update the company’s newsroom.
Content Creation: Assist in developing engaging content for different channels (primarily intranet).
Metrics: Build an intranet dashboard to track analytics.
Engagement Campaign: Ideate and manage the promotion and writing of a campaign to help boost intranet traffic/engagement.
Share the Trustmark intern experience on internal and external channels.
Visuals: Take and edit people‑focused photos and videos to help tell the Trustmark story.
Attend D&I Council meetings/brainstorms to participate in planning/executing diversity events.
Minimum Requirements
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or English, and will have completed the junior year of coursework before the internship
Interested in experiencing the range of work in Corporate Communications
GPA of at least 3.0
Experience in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong photo and video capturing and editing skills
Ability to organize/prioritize activities, work quickly and accurately, with strong attention to detail
