Organization Description and Position Description CITYarts engages youth and professional artists in the creation of public art, including murals and mosaic. Through this creative process, CITYarts empowers, educates, and connects youth and children locally and around the world to become active participants in realizing their potential and transforming communities.

The Social Media/PR intern is expected to document CITYarts murals, workshops, and current projects and coordinate posting these images and videos on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. They should have experience growing various types of accounts, as well as collaborating with other accounts, organizations, and influencers to facilitate social media growth. They will develop and organize an archive system for both current and previous posts. Social Media Interns will be responsible for tracking engagement progress and developing reports on how to improve our social media presence. Interns may also be involved in creation and printing of creative material, and photo cataloging.

Requirements

Able to commit to at least 3 months

Beginning in January, we are happy to work around school semester timelines as well

Previous experience in developing Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and other social media accounts.

Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Canva, Squarespace, Final Cut Pro (or another video editing software), and supplementary social media applications.

Experience in documenting through photos and video, creating reels

Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel

Experience in outreach and networking

Responsibilities

Managing social media accounts and archives, expanding CITYarts’ social media presence to engage with the greater New York City community and our international locations.

Documenting current projects through photography and video

Creating, developing, and sharing both promotional and summary videos

Light design work including creation of brochures, flyers, and advisments

Researching like-minded companies, artists, media outlets for collaborations

Continuously developing the CITYarts website

Provide ideas on how to improve CITYarts digital outreach and presence

SCHEDULE – Interns design their own schedule with CITYarts’ staff. Average of 12-16 hours a week.

BENEFITS – A CITYarts’ internship offers a comprehensive introduction to the non-profit art world and can provide meaningful professional development to a committed and motivated individual. School credit & a stipend of $15 per 8 hours is offered. DISCLAIMER: High schoolers are strongly encouraged to apply, but cannot be paid.
