Founded in 1998 and based in Bentonville, Arkansas, Sporting Arkansas Soccer Club is a leading youth player development organization in Northwest Arkansas and an official academy affiliate of Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer.
Sporting Arkansas is dedicated to developing athletes’ skills, character, and love for the game by providing professional coaching, high-quality facilities, and a supportive environment for young players. The club operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on youth development, community impact, and long-term player development in a youth soccer landscape that is often dominated by for-profit models.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Director is responsible for the overall soccer philosophy, coaching development, and player development pathway of Sporting Arkansas. This is a full-time salaried position. This role oversees coaching staff, ensures consistency in player development across all programs, and works in partnership with the Executive Director to support the long-term growth of the club. The Technical Director will play a key role in strengthening coaching standards, refining the club’s player development pathway, and helping guide the long-term technical vision of Sporting Arkansas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Player Development Philosophy
- Develop and implement the club’s player development philosophy and playing style
- Ensure training environments meet the differentiated developmental needs of players at every stage
- Create and oversee an age-appropriate training curriculum across all age groups and programs
- Encourage creativity, awareness, and decision-making in players on and off the field
Coaching Leadership
- Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality coaching staff
- Lead coaching education sessions and support coach licensing development
- Establish high standards for coaching quality across all programs
- Mentor staff and build a pipeline of future club leaders and coaches
- Provide clear direction, goal setting, and performance feedback for staff leaders
Player Identification & Team Formation
- Oversee player evaluation and tryout processes to ensure transparency and consistency
- Collaborate with age-group directors and coaching staff on team formation and player placement decisions
- Ensure the team formation process supports development, retention, and a positive player and family experience
Player Pathway
- Ensure alignment from entry-level programs through competitive and elite platforms
- Guide the long-term development pathway for players within the club
- Support initiatives that retain players and provide clear next steps in their development journey
College Pathway & Player Advancement
- Oversee the club’s approach to college recruiting support
- Build relationships with college programs and guide families through the recruiting process
League & Technical Relations
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in representing the club with leagues and governing organizations
- Participate in league technical meetings and ensure compliance with league standards
- Ensure compliance with league rules, registration requirements, and competition standards
Club Growth
- Partner with the Executive Director on program expansion and player recruitment initiatives
- Drive initiatives that increase player retention and attract new families to the club
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Significant coaching and technical leadership experience in youth soccer
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and managing coaching staff
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement a player development curriculum
Preferred
- USSF A License or equivalent advanced coaching license
- Experience within elite youth soccer platforms or professional academy environments

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
The selected candidate must be able to pass background screening and complete all required SafeSport and league compliance requirements.
