The SOLIDWORKS User Experience Design team is a multidisciplinary group of user experience designers, researchers, and engineers who are responsible for the user experience and user interface of SOLIDWORKS products. Our products span desktop, web, mobile, and AR/VR platforms.

As a User Experience Research Intern, you’ll help ensure user insights are at the heart of our product development. You’ll support and conduct a range of research activities to uncover user needs, test designs, and improve the experience across our platforms. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while gaining hands‑on experience in an enterprise software environment.

Some of your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist in planning and conducting user research across product discovery, concept development, and detailed design phases
  • Support and run remote usability tests, user interviews, surveys, and other research studies
  • Manage participant recruitment, scheduling, and study logistics to ensure timely and organized execution
  • Contribute to exploratory and evaluative research focused on AI‑assisted engineering workflows and next‑generation interaction models
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover actionable insights
  • Create journey maps and other visual artifacts to communicate user workflows, goals, pain points, and opportunities
  • Contribute to improving research operations, documentation processes, and participant management systems

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors, UX Research, Product Design, HCI, or a related field
  • Familiarity with user‑centered design and UX research methods, such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, task analysis, user journey mapping, and heuristic evaluations
  • Strong communication skills—able to clearly share research plans and insights in both verbal and written formats
  • Detail‑oriented and organized, with an interest in both research and operations
  • Experience with UX tools (Figma, Miro/Mural/Figjam, Excel/Sheets) is a plus
  • Exposure to or interest in CAD, 3D modeling, or SOLIDWORKS is a bonus, but not required

Salary Pay Transparency

Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $22 and $40, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
