Job Description As a valued colleague on our Creative Studios team, the Digital Content Strategist leads the strategy, writing, governance, and optimization of content across all digital channels, including websites, email, mobile experiences, digital products, content hubs, marketing automation platforms, and emerging AI-driven experiences. The ideal candidate is a storyteller who can develop compelling content while ensuring it’s aligned with business needs, brand, SEO/SEM requirements, accessibility standards, channel best practices, and measurable business outcomes.
The strategist also builds and manages digital content systems (taxonomy, metadata, workflows), partners with cross-functional teams to elevate content quality and performance, establishes and ensures content governance and efficiency best practices, and serves as a connective tissue between content creators, channel owners, product teams, UX, SEO/AEO, analytics, personalization, and digital marketing and technology teams. They champion content excellence, operational efficiency, and data-driven optimization across the full digital ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Content strategy and development
Lead digital content strategy, planning, writing, and refinement across websites, email, and other channels.
Partner with SEO and analytics teams to establish content hierarchy and develop the enterprise’s new content strategy.
Write and optimize compelling content in the brand voice; evaluate existing content to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
Train marketers on writing for digital channels, internal AI search, SEO/AEO/GEO/SEM, accessibility, channel conventions, and metadata/tagging best practices.
Serve as the liaison between marketing, product, brand, UX, and IT for cross-channel digital content initiatives.
Content governance and optimization
Develop and govern content workflows within content management/web content management systems (CMS/WCM) and other content activation systems (e.g., marketing automation, website).
Audit digital content experiences to improve engagement, discoverability, and conversion.
Collaborate with digital teams to test and optimize content across channels and journeys.
Metadata and taxonomy
Build and maintain metadata models and tagging frameworks across all content types.
Align metadata with SEO/GEO/AEO, paid SEM, audience segments, personas, journey stages, and campaign architecture.
Support content reuse and modular content assembly across systems (CMS, DAM, MAP, etc.).
Publishing and execution
Publish, update, and manage content across CMS/WCM, DAM, and marketing automation platforms.
Support translation and localization workflows across digital channels.
Manage digital asset strategy (tiering, reuse criteria, localization rules) across the full digital estate.
Minimum Required Experiences
4 years of professional experience in digital content strategy, content creation, and technical writing.
Bachelor’s degree.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong writing portfolio showcasing content for technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven expertise writing for AI products, such as chatbots, virtual assistants, or other conversational interfaces.
Demonstrated expertise creating/organizing/tagging content for SEO/AEO/GEO crawlers.
Experience conducting website content audits, inventories, and taxonomy/metadata development.
Familiarity with digital accessibility standards and content management systems.
Strong analytical, project management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Desired Experiences
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, journalism, liberal arts, media, communications, advertising, or writing and/or advanced degree preferred.
5-10 years of professional experience in digital content strategy, content creation, and technical writing.
Experience in the financial services, mortgages, or real estate industry.
Experience contributing to website build, migration, or refresh projects.
Compensation Target Pay Range: $96,000 - $124,000 a year.
Requisition Compensation: 96,000 to 124,000.
