Anthropic, San Francisco, CA, United States

About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role: We are looking for a Finance & Strategy, Product Intelligence team member to join our Finance team at Anthropic. In this role, you will help the company build and maintain a well-informed view of the AI market, and ensure that understanding flows to the people making strategic and financial decisions. You will research, analyze, and communicate what is happening across the industry, and why it matters for Anthropic.

You will sit within the Product Finance & Strategy team and work broadly across the organization. The right person for this role blends financial and analytical rigor with deep interest in AI products and technology, and can distill complex, fast-moving market dynamics into actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a continuous, data-grounded understanding of the AI market, identifying trends, shifts, and developments that are relevant to Anthropic's strategy.

Act as a key analytical resource across the Finance team and broader organization, providing market context that supports strategic decision-making.

Conduct research using a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods to surface insights for product and business stakeholders.

Create clear, well-structured materials that make complex market information accessible and useful to a range of internal audiences.

You may be a good fit if you:

Have 5+ years of experience in strategic finance, consulting, equity research, product management, market intelligence, or a related analytical role.

Combine financial or analytical rigor with a deep interest in AI products, technology, and the broader industry ecosystem.

Are skilled at synthesizing information from disparate sources and communicating it clearly to a range of audiences.

Have a strong bias toward action and are comfortable operating with incomplete information in a fast-moving environment.

Enjoy the research process: tracking down information, triangulating sources, and building a coherent picture from fragmented data points.

Have strong quantitative skills and are comfortable building and maintaining models and dashboards.

Proficiency in SQL or other data tools used for market analysis.

Are passionate about Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems.

Strong candidates may also have:

Experience in equity research, investment analysis, or similar roles covering technology or infrastructure companies.

A background that combines technical or product work with finance or consulting (e.g., a former PM who moved into strategy, or an analyst who covered SaaS/infrastructure).

Familiarity with consumption-based business models.

Experience conducting primary research through expert networks, surveys, or user interviews.

An existing network or deep familiarity with the AI ecosystem's key players, investors, and dynamics.

Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Compensation The annual compensation range for this role is $190,000 - $235,000 USD.

How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
