Affordable Housing / LIHTC Attorney (Remote)
gpac, Los Angeles, CA, United States
Overview
Several established law firms with active and growing affordable housing practices are seeking an attorney with meaningful Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience to join their teams. These roles are fully remote and offer the opportunity to work on sophisticated transactions supporting the development of affordable housing across California.
These practices represent nonprofit developers, community organizations, and mission‑driven sponsors working to expand housing access in complex regulatory and financing environments. Attorneys in these roles are deeply involved in structuring transactions and guiding projects from acquisition through closing.
Responsibilities
Advise nonprofit developers and housing sponsors on affordable housing development and financing transactions
Structure and negotiate LIHTC transactions, including tax credit syndications and partnership arrangements
Draft and review purchase agreements, ground leases, development agreements, and related project documentation
Coordinate transactions involving lenders, governmental agencies, and tax credit investors
Manage transactions from initial structuring through closing while maintaining direct client relationships
Work collaboratively with project coordinators and development teams to keep transactions moving efficiently
What Makes These Roles Stand Out
Mission‑Driven Clients
Represent nonprofit developers and community organizations developing affordable housing across California.
Complex Transactions
Work on acquisitions, ground leases, financing structures, and LIHTC syndications involving lenders, governmental agencies, and tax credit investors.

Active California Bar license required, or willingness to obtain admission with firm support
5+ years of experience working on LIHTC and affordable housing finance transactions
Strong drafting and transactional skills with the ability to manage multiple active matters
