Job Summary
Naperville Heritage Society at Naper Settlement is seeking a creative and collaborative temporary social media specialist from February 1 to May 18, 2026. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position will create engaging social media content that connects with the museum's current and emerging audiences
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Create and publish content across all social media platforms with an emphasis on developing short-form video content (reels, stories, etc.) for Facebook and Instagram. Attend speaking engagements and other off-site events and post about Naper Settlement's involvement. Act as a connector between the museum's departments (exhibits, field trips, collections, special events, weddings, etc.) by collaborating on content ideas and managing the organization's content calendar to ensure that all departments receive valuable promotional opportunities. Attend museum programs and produce short-form video, photography, graphics, and stories. Working alongside the Marketing Director to execute social media influencer campaigns. Curate user-generated content and receive permission to post on Naper Settlement's accounts. Analyze social media analytics to gain insight into post-performance and use findings to inform future posts. Exceptional copyrighting and editing skills. Must be able to work non-traditional hours to accommodate content creation for educational programs (Family STEM Nights, Cloverbuds Club, Your Friendly Neighborhood Historian, etc.) Experience in providing world-class customer service. Excellent organizational skills. Experience with event planning and management preferred. Skills in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to speak in public, be creative, handle details, be flexible, multi-task and to work under deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while maintaining attention to details. Ability to work outdoors in all seasons. Knowledge of general office procedures, and skilled in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability and aptitude to learn specialized software and database systems. Essential Functions
Ability to use a phone to receive and send information, including managing multiple lines. Ability to proofread and check documents for errors. Ability to use a keyboard to enter, retrieve or transform words or data. Ability to learn and work in a database system on a daily basis. Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written formats. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines, be well organized, and pay attention to details. Ability to multi-task and to work independently as well as to accept direction on given projects/assignments. Ability to lift or carry 25 lbs. or more. Ability to walk up and down stairs regularly, as well as walk and/or stand for an hour or more at a time.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
3-5 years of hands-on experience creating and posting social media content for a business or cultural institution. Experience editing and posting video content in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
