An established family‑owned civil construction and site development contractor with over 25 years of service to Long Island. We specialize in site development, excavation, utilities, drainage, demolition, and heavy earthwork for commercial, municipal and infrastructure projects.
Position Overview The Civil Estimator will support the estimating and pre‑construction process for a variety of civil construction and site development projects. The role involves reviewing project plans, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with ownership and project management teams to develop competitive bids. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or mid‑level estimator who wants to grow within a stable, well‑respected Long Island contractor.
Key Responsibilities
Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Perform quantity takeoffs for site development and civil construction work
Prepare cost estimates for excavation, utilities, drainage, demolition, and site work
Develop crew compositions and production estimates
Assist in preparing project bids and proposals
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing
Maintain and update the bid log
Work closely with ownership and project management during pre‑construction
Ensure estimates align with project scope and owner requirements
Qualifications
2–7 years of experience in civil construction estimating or a related field
Experience with site development, earthwork, utilities, or excavation projects
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Familiarity with civil construction methods and production rates
Strong analytical and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Preferred Experience
Experience with estimating software such as InSite, Bluebeam, or Sage
Experience estimating site work or heavy civil projects
Familiarity with local Long Island agencies and permitting processes
Experience working with union contractors or union labor environments
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $50,000 – $85,000 depending on experience
401(k) with company match
