Growth Product Manager, Monetization & Billing

Intelligems, New York, NY, United States

There are millions of e-commerce businesses around the world, and the industry is growing each year, yet achieving profitability has never been harder. Costs are rising, it’s trickier to acquire customers, and it's critical to run with lean teams. As a result, the vast majority of brands guess about things like how to price their products, what discounts to offer, whether to charge for shipping, and what content they should show on the site, leaving 6–10% of potential profit on the table.

Intelligems is a profit growth platform that helps these entrepreneurs succeed by uncovering that profit. Our platform provides e-commerce merchants with a wide range of A/B testing and personalization tools to help them understand their data, run experiments, and price dynamically. We’re taking technology that has previously been available only to the Amazons and Ubers of the world, and making it available to e-commerce stores of any size.

We have excellent traction: we’re working with over 2,000 brands and have access to more than $10B of transaction and shopping session data. As we enter scaling mode, we are looking for highly talented individuals to join us and help us continue to scale efficiently. We have an extremely high-performing team, with a collaborative culture of low-ego + high-IQ people. Our people are our strongest asset, and we hold a very high bar.

We're backed by Stage 2 Ventures, Vinyl Capital, Matchstick Ventures, Techstars, and the founders of companies like Klaviyo and Postscript, and have raised >$11M to date.

The Role We're looking for a product manager to architect the next generation of Intelligems’ revenue engine. You'll own the implementation and execution of our full monetization lifecycle, from how we package and price our product to how customers pay, upgrade, and expand over time.

This is a deeply cross-functional role at the intersection of engineering, sales, partnerships, product growth, finance, and customer experience. You’ll be responsible for owning trials, paywalls, in-product upgrade moments, plan comparisons, expansion paths, downgrades, and renewals. At the same time, you'll ensure our billing platform scales to support increasingly complex subscription models, partnership structures, and financial workflows.

This role requires someone who can think holistically about the business, operate comfortably across multiple stakeholder groups, and translate both strategic vision and tactical sales requirements into scalable, reliable product experiences. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and relentless execution.

What You’ll Do Drive monetization strategy and outcomes

Define and execute the monetization roadmap, owning the strategic levers that drive revenue expansion: packaging, pricing models, subscription tiers, bundles, and cross-sell/upsell logic

Design and optimize in-product moments that accelerate upgrades — paywalls, plan comparisons, trial flows, and expansion paths — reducing friction and increasing conversion

Model pricing impacts, validate hypotheses, and challenge assumptions using data and experimentation in close partnership with Finance, RevOps, and Data & Analytics

Champion the use of AI tools to make the team more efficient and data-driven in its daily work

Own the billing system and payments infrastructure

Define the product strategy and roadmap for Intelligems' billing platform, spanning subscription management, payment processing, refunds and invoicing

Own and optimize the end-to-end payment and billing experience, including checkout flows and recurring billing experiences

Design and deliver scalable billing flows that support diverse pricing models, partnership arrangements (e.g., revenue shares, reseller agreements)

Bridge engineering and sales operations

Serve as the connector between technical execution and business financial goals, translating sales and partnership requirements into clear, complete functional specifications

Proactively identify edge cases, missing requirements, and workflow gaps before features are built

Develop deep expertise in our billing system's architecture to anticipate how new features interact with existing functionality

Create documentation, SOPs, and training materials that enable Sales and Customer Success teams to effectively manage billing and monetization scenarios at scale

Ensure financial accuracy and operational excellence

Collaborate with Finance to ensure billing data integrity, accurate revenue recognition, and seamless reconciliation

Implement guardrails, validation logic, and error handling to prevent billing mistakes that could impact customer trust or financial reporting

Navigate compliance requirements, such as tax regulations, and translate them into product features and platform safeguards

What You Bring Required Experience & Skills

Strong technical aptitude: you can understand system architecture, data flows, API integrations, and complex billing logic. You don't need to code, but you can hold detailed technical conversations with engineers and anticipate technical implications of product decisions

Systems thinker with a holistic business sense: you operate cross-functionally, hold complex interconnected systems in your head, and understand how monetization decisions ripple across product, finance, sales, and customer experience

Experience with subscription business models: you understand MRR, expansion revenue, churn, cohort analysis, and how packaging and billing decisions drive these metrics

AI-curious: you may not be an AI engineer, but you're eager to leverage AI tools to accelerate workflows and make the team more data-driven

Ideal Background

3+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time spent on monetization, billing systems, payments, or subscription management in a SaaS environment

Experience working closely with sales teams or in sales/partnerships roles: you understand how sales operates, what they need to close deals, and how to translate their requirements into scalable product features

Experience at a high-growth SaaS company, especially one serving SMB customers or operating on Shopify

Background in consulting, revenue operations, or finance — people who think about the business holistically, manage multiple stakeholders well, and bring structured problem-solving to ambiguous situations tend to thrive here

Familiarity with partnership or reseller billing models (revenue shares, co-selling arrangements)

Experience enabling growth motions through product: upsells, trials, upgrade paths, and reactivation campaigns

Bonus: deep hands‑on experience with e-commerce billing platforms (Stripe, Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar)

Key Attributes

Monetization-minded: you think about packaging, pricing, and expansion as strategic levers, not just operational tasks

Detail-oriented: you catch edge cases, ask clarifying questions, and ensure requirements are complete before engineering starts building

Proactive problem-solver: you identify issues before they become crises and think several steps ahead

Strong communicator: you can explain complex billing and monetization concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into technical requirements

Customer-focused: you understand that billing and upgrade experiences directly impact customer trust and retention

Pragmatic: you balance perfectionism with speed, knowing when to ship quickly and when to invest in getting it right
