Content Commercialization Strategist

Job Purpose As a Content Commercialization Strategist, you will support the development, framing, and commercialization of editorial driven content products across BBC.com, Digital Brands/Social, and Audio environments. Reporting into the Senior Content Commercialization Strategist, this role focuses on helping transform editorial assets and content ecosystems into compelling commercial propositions and revenue opportunities.

You will work closely with editorial teams to identify market potential, adapt content constructs for advertiser relevance, and contribute to positioning for sales and go-to-market activation. The role blends editorial understanding, commercial thinking, narrative development, and cross functional collaboration.

Success in this position requires strong editorial judgment, an understanding of content value creation, audience insights, and the ability to help translate editorial storytelling into commercially viable programs, packages, and products.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Support editorial stakeholders across BBC.com Features, Digital Brands/Social, and Audio in identifying commercialization opportunities within existing and emerging content.

Assist in auditing editorial products, series, and franchises to evaluate advertiser relevance, scalability, and market viability.

Contribute to revenue-oriented planning around landmark series, BBC Studios franchises, and tentpole calendar moments.

Assist in developing commercialization strategies that translate editorial narratives and formats into clear commercial offerings.

Contribute to product positioning, messaging frameworks, audience insights, and value narratives for editorial driven commercial programs.

Assist in creating go-to market materials, including sales narratives, strategic documentation, and product level messaging.

Collaborate with design teams to ensure visual materials communicate product logic and commercial value.

Partner with production, research, and media teams to support pricing models, packaging structures, and execution frameworks.

Participate in internal education initiatives to help sales and strategy teams understand editorial product usage and commercialization logic.

Contribute to the evolution of editorial & commercial best practices, workflows, and strategic documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of digital editorial ecosystems, publishing models, and content value creation.

Experience or strong interest in content commercialization, content strategy, media product development, or content marketing.

Strong writing, framing, and narrative positioning skills.

Experience contributing to sales narratives, product messaging, or go-to market materials.

Comfort working cross-functionally with editorial, design, production, media, and sales teams.

Strategic and analytical thinking, particularly in evaluating market viability and advertiser relevance.

Strong organizational skills and ability to support multiple initiatives.

Professional Experience and Behaviors

2–4+ years of experience in content strategy, content commercialization, content marketing, branded content, or related fields.

Experience working within or adjacent to a publisher, newsroom, media organization, or content-led business preferred.

Background in journalism, media, marketing strategy, communications, or related disciplines is a plus.

Demonstrates critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and structured problem solving.

Highly collaborative, proactive, and comfortable navigating cross-functional environments.

Strong communication skills and clarity of thought.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,000. This does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.
