Position Summary The Marketing Assistant II supports Xcel Energy’s Commercial Demand-Side Management (DSM) programs across multiple jurisdictions. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates looking to begin or grow their career in the utility and energy efficiency sector. The position focuses on program support, marketing coordination, and rebate processing assistance while working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
The Marketing Assistant will help ensure DSM programs operate efficiently by managing program communications, supporting marketing material updates, and coordinating rebate requests through internal systems such as Salesforce.
Key Responsibilities
Support commercial DSM programs operating across five jurisdictions.
Update and maintain program marketing materials and documentation.
Review rebate requests and coordinate submissions to the rebate processing team.
Manage and respond to program inbox communications.
Work within Salesforce to review and manage assigned tasks from different parts of the organization.
Communicate with project teams to gather missing documentation, invoices, or required materials.
Send follow-up communications and maintain clear documentation of program activities.
Participate in weekly product/program team meetings to review priorities, key milestones, and program progress.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support program operations and customer engagement.
Team Environment The Marketing Assistant will join a
12-person team
divided into two program support groups:
High Engagement Team — supporting larger, more complex programs.
Low Touch Team — focused on prescriptive rebate programs.
This role involves collaboration with internal teams as well as external stakeholders and customers.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree required.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up on project deliverables.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred
Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
Background or interest in the utility, energy efficiency, or regulatory environment.
Customer service or program coordination experience.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate may be
early in their career or a recent graduate
who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in the energy and utilities industry. Candidates with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset will thrive in this role.
Training & Onboarding New hires will receive structured onboarding and mentorship. The typical ramp-up period is
1–2 months , including training on Xcel Energy systems, processes, and program procedures.
Work Schedule
Standard schedule: 9:00 AM — 5:00 PM
Occasional overtime may be required during peak program periods (typically spring), up to 10 hours per week with prior approval.
