
Director - IT Operations

The Director of IT Operations will lead the strategic and day-to-day management of IT infrastructure across SunState Medical Specialists, including oversight of a major Orlando datacenter and technology operations at more than 100 clinical locations. This role ensures highly reliable systems, effective field support, strong incident response, and the successful delivery of infrastructure and cloud initiatives. The ideal candidate blends strong people leadership with deep technical expertise in networking, cloud platforms, and modern IT operations.
This is a full-time, onsite role with up to 30% travel across Florida clinic locations. Candidates must reside in Florida or Nashville, TN.
Key Responsibilities
Lead IT infrastructure strategy, field operations, and project delivery across all practice locations.
Manage and mentor field support teams, ensuring timely onsite issue resolution.
Oversee datacenter operations, system monitoring, patching, and alert response.
Direct Tier 3 incident escalation and ensure swift resolution of complex technical issues.
Manage PC lifecycle refresh programs and IT change, incident, and problem management processes.
Drive business continuity, disaster recovery, backup planning, and operational resiliency.
Deliver infrastructure and cloud projects on time and within scope.
Establish and refine IT operations processes, standards, and best practices.
Ensure strong collaboration between regional IT teams and centralized support groups.
Track operational performance through metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets related to infrastructure and cloud services.
Key Competencies
Proven leadership of IT operations teams in distributed or high-growth environments.
Expertise in Microsoft 365, cloud backup tools, and system monitoring platforms.
Strong knowledge of networks, servers, storage, cloud services (AWS/Azure), and datacenter technologies.
Experience with VMWare, hybrid cloud environments, and enterprise architecture.
Skilled in disaster recovery planning, systems optimization, and high-availability operations.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Strong business acumen and ability to align IT priorities with organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of progressive IT operations leadership, including team and budget management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies.
Healthcare or managed services experience preferred.
