We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Senior Commercial Manager. This role will be based in the Amey Northampton office with occasional travel to other Amey sites and the Northampton Schools.

Join our vibrant and inclusive team within the Northampton Schools account, delivering critical services across the Public Estates Facilities Management portfolio. This role operates at the heart of the Northampton Schools PFI contract, supporting the long‑term performance, compliance and commercial governance of 43 PFI schools.

As Commercial Manager, you will form part of the senior leadership team responsible for ensuring the Northampton PFI contract delivers strong, compliant and transparent commercial performance. The role provides expert commercial leadership across a complex and highly regulated PFI environment, ensuring contractual obligations are met, costs are controlled, and value‑for‑money is delivered for all stakeholders.

Working closely with the SPV, the Local Authority, school leadership teams, and the wider Amey organisation, the Commercial Manager ensures that robust commercial governance, strong financial performance and reliable service delivery are maintained throughout the lifecycle of the PFI contract.

What you will do:

Lead commercial Lead commercial oversight of the Total FM PFI contract, ensuring compliance with PFI obligations and performance standards.

Interpret and apply PFI contract clauses, advising operational teams on risks and impacts.

Ensure accurate administration of PFI change control, including reviewing, pricing, negotiating, and securing approvals for variations.

Produce accurate monthly commercial reports, forecasts, and P&Ls.

Review accruals, WIP, provisions, and cost capture for financial accuracy.

Oversee subcontractor performance, pricing, compliance, and procurement.

Act as commercial interface with SPV, school leadership, and internal teams.

Identify and manage commercial risks and support audit processes.

Support operational teams with commercial guidance and reviews of contractor quotes in line with agreed rates.

Manage procurement processes, quote analysis, tendering, and negotiation for minor works, reactive jobs, and projects.

What you will bring:

Direct experience working on a

PFI schools contract

or similar long-term concession-based FM contract.

Professional accreditation (e.g., CIPS, RICS) or working towards qualification.

Experience using CAFM systems (e.g., Concept™, or similar) within a hard/soft FM environment

Commercially astute and detail driven.

Proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.

High integrity and commitment to transparent, fair practices.
