Accenture Strategy’s Consumer Goods, Retail & Travel (CGRT) practice is seeking a
Principal
to join our
Stores (Brick & Mortar) Strategy
pillar. This role addresses a critical and growing need for senior‑level leadership in one of our highest‑growth and highest‑demand strategy areas.
The Principal will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering complex retail strategy engagements, advancing thought leadership, and supporting sales and market expansion efforts across leading global retailers. This individual will serve as a senior client advisor, delivery leader, and people leader, bringing deep expertise in physical retail and store‑led transformation.
Key Responsibilities Strategy Delivery & Client Leadership
Lead
complex, multi‑workstream retail strategy engagements
with a primary focus on
Stores / Brick & Mortar transformation
Serve as a trusted senior advisor to C‑suite and executive‑level retail clients
Own overall engagement direction, ensuring high‑quality outcomes, rigorous problem solving, and value realization
Lead and mentor engagement teams, providing hands‑on guidance and setting a high bar for delivery excellence
Thought Leadership & Capability Building
Develop and advance
thought leadership
in Stores and Brick & Mortar Strategy, including store formats, operating models, labor, productivity, profitability, and customer experience
Contribute to the evolution of the Stores Strategy offering and help shape the future roadmap of the capability
Integrate
Retail AI, advanced analytics, and data‑driven insights
into strategy design and recommendations
Sales & Pursuit Support
Actively support
business development and pursuit activity , including shaping strategy narratives, client conversations, and proposals
Partner with Managing Directors and Senior Leaders to drive pipeline growth and expand market presence in Stores Strategy
Leverage deep industry and functional expertise to originate and convert new opportunities
People & Practice Leadership
Provide senior‑level leadership within the Stores Strategy community, filling a critical gap in Principal‑level coverage
Coach, develop, and sponsor Managers and Senior Managers, building a strong next generation of leaders
Contribute to practice priorities, talent development, and culture across CGRT Strategy
Required Qualifications
Deep expertise in
Retail Strategy , with a strong and demonstrated focus on
Stores / Brick & Mortar
Proven experience leading
complex strategy engagements
from problem definition through delivery
Strong senior client engagement skills, including experience advising executive‑level stakeholders
Experience developing and delivering
thought leadership
in retail and store‑based strategy
Demonstrated success supporting
sales and pursuits
in a consulting or strategy environment
Experience integrating
AI, advanced analytics, and data‑driven insights
into retail strategy
Strong people leadership capabilities, including team leadership and mentoring
Consulting background strongly preferred
Preferred Experience
Experience working with large, complex retailers across grocery, mass, specialty, apparel, and consumer services
Exposure to high‑growth retail transformation programs involving physical stores, omnichannel, or store reinvention
Track record of delivering strategy work for leading retail brands
Compensation Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
