About the Position of Assistant Superintendent The MVYPS Assistant Superintendent will support the daily operations, instructional program, professional and support staff supervision as directed by the Superintendent, and budget development and implementation, as well as maintaining a visible presence with students, parents, and the broader community.
MVYPS seeks an effective team builder and dedicated community leader who is committed to students and staff, passionate about the system's mission, and champions the culture of MVYPS, as evidenced by the following:
Collaborative leader: Demonstrated experience supporting the daily management of school operations in a collaborative manner, including school safety, daily scheduling, transportation, and resource planning. The Assistant Superintendent will continue the development of system-wide initiatives that support curriculum and organizational practices and programs, and operate as a resource in ongoing capital projects.
Effective team builder: Demonstrated experience developing teachers and staff through coaching and mentoring. Ensures that all teachers and staff are well supported with the resources they need to be productive in their roles.
Dedicated community leader: Cultivates long-term partnerships with community partners and neighbors across the Island. Actively manages initiatives that deliver shared impact. Serves as a unifier.

In accordance with district personnel policies, applicable statutes, budgetary parameters, and subject to the direction and approval of the Superintendent, the MVYPS Assistant Superintendent will help to organize, implement, and supervise an operational and learning environment conducive to the maximum educational growth of each learner.
Qualifications The successful candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills. Three years of classroom teaching experience and three years of experience as a school administrator are required. A master's degree in education or related field and valid Massachusetts license as a Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent are required. Experience in human resources, school or district operations, and strong curriculum knowledge are preferred. Residence on the Island of Martha's Vineyard is expected.
Compensation Martha's Vineyard Public Schools offers a regionally competitive salary ($155,000-$175,000) and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
