Position Summary
Turpin & Rattan Engineering, Inc. is seeking a motivated Electrical Designer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to launch a career in Electrical design.
The Electrical Designer works collaboratively with design teams and clients to deliver high-quality designs for projects. This role involves supporting the design process from project kickoff through project closeout, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule requirements, while delivering exceptional client experiences. Design responsibilities include field surveys, power system studies, power distribution, lighting, renewable energy and fire alarm systems. Other responsibilities include gaining and applying a general understanding of related disciplines such as mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, technology, structural, civil and architectural.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Client communication as approved by the Project Manager, including attending meetings and handling email correspondence.
Review proposals and ensure project adherence.
Provide designs and coordinate with the design team to meet project requirements.
Prepare and coordinate project deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Conduct site visits to ensure design adherence and support project progress.
Maintain sheet index, task list, and design checklist to ensure project organization, collaboration, and coordination.
Adhere to QAQC standards to ensure design integrity and high quality.
Review and comment for professional cost estimator estimates.
Provide project close-out activities, ensuring all project requirements are met.
Perform tasks delegated by the Project Manager, ensuring strict adherence to scope and project guidelines. Delegation of related tasks is not permitted in this role.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
1-3 years design and/or field experience in Electrical building systems preferred.
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit BIM software, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office software preferred.

Physical Activities and Demands Lifting: Up to 50 lbs

Items to carry include, but are not limited to tools, flashlights, ladders, computer tablets, and construction documents.
Work at Heights: Most work will be performed at ground level. Some project assignments will require observation of pre- and post-construction conditions on rooftops. Access to rooftops will be gained via built-in roof ladders, or ladders propped up and secured to the building from the outside.
Vision: Ability to read content on both paper and computer monitors. Each employee must have adequate vision for situational awareness to stay safe during all work-related activities.
Sitting: Estimated Frequency: Over 75%. The position requires input into a computer via design software while sitting at a workstation. Accommodation for a stand-up workstation is available on request.

Branch Office: Assigned workspace in the branch office.
Home / Remote Office: Employees are required to create a safe home office workspace to conduct their work in an efficient, digitally accessible, and professional manner.
Project Site: Project site observations and familiarization are required.
Vehicular Travel: Must have the means to commute to your assigned branch office and to project sites within the County where your branch office is located. Occasional travel outside of the branch office County may be required.
Business Hours: Monday through Thursday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to Noon (varies by branch office).
Work Hours: Between 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
