Responsibilities
Contracts & Commercial Support
Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial, operational, and employment‑related agreements.
Ensure contracts support Daisy’s business goals while protecting the company’s legal and financial interests.
Regulatory Compliance & Enterprise Risk Management
Advise on compliance across federal, state, and local regulations, including those relevant to food production, safety, employment, environmental requirements, and data privacy.
Develop and maintain a proactive enterprise risk framework to assess potential legal, operational, and business‑continuity exposures.
Provide clear guidance to leadership on risk implications and mitigation strategies.
Insurance Program Oversight
Manage insurance procurement, claims processes, coverage requirements, and relationships with insurance partners.
Ensure insurance programs align with Daisy’s risk posture and evolving business needs.
Liaison to External Counsel & Senior Leadership
Serve as the primary legal advisor to Daisy’s leadership team.
Coordinate with external counsel on specialized matters, ensuring consistent communication, alignment, and strategic direction.
Oversee all litigation and dispute matters, setting strategy and managing external counsel in cases involving product liability, commercial disputes, employment issues, and other areas.
Represent the company in legal proceedings where appropriate.
Intellectual Property Protection
Manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio, ensuring effective protection of trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and proprietary information.
Crisis & Incident Response
Lead legal strategy during product recalls, contamination events, or other critical incidents.
Ensure timely communication with regulatory bodies and alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
Policy Development & Governance
Establish and maintain practical, business‑focused legal policies and procedures that strengthen compliance and reduce organizational risk.
Create and maintain tools such as contract templates, compliance checklists, and standard guidance materials.
Legal Research, Education & Advisory Support
Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to Daisy’s operations.
Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and informed decision‑making.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in Texas (or ability to obtain in‑house counsel registration where required).
Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within food manufacturing, consumer goods, or similarly regulated environments.
Expertise in contracts, compliance, risk management, and litigation oversight.
Strong negotiation skills and business‑oriented judgment.
Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, operational, and executive teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
High ethical standards and unwavering professional integrity.
