Customer Service Representative

Delta-Montrose Electric Association ("DMEA") is your local electric cooperative dedicated to meeting the diverse energy needs of families and businesses. DMEA supports programs that strengthen local communities, like emerging energy technologies, local renewable energy development, and the deployment of a fiber internet subsidiary, Elevate Internet. DMEA's service territory is in Southwest Colorado, and we serve approximately 37,000 meters and 30,000 members. We provide affordable, reliable, and safe electric service to members living and working in Montrose and Delta counties. We also provide electric service to a small portion of Gunnison County. The Customer Service Representative (CSR) serves as the first point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries related to electrical services and internet connectivity. The role involves resolving service issues, processing orders, scheduling appointments, and providing technical support in a professional and timely manner. This position works closely with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient service delivery. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to thrive in this fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The position may require travel and support to both DMEA locations in Montrose and Read, CO. This position is part of a union position and requires candidates to be willing to join the applicable union upon hiring. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have experience working with the public and in a customer service role. Strong customer service and commitment to resolving issues efficiently and professionally. Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) preferred. Must have basic math skills, cash handling, and cash drawer management experience. Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams) or related software is required. Notary Public Certification or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from the date of hire. Must maintain a valid US driver's license. Serves as the first point of contact for our members. Plays a critical role in representing our values and commitment to service by handling inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience from the very beginning. Responsible for cash management. This includes drawer balancing, drawer audits, and receiving and processing payments via electronic, check, or cash. Appropriately respond to questions and concerns from members while ensuring confidentiality of member concerns, records, and communications is maintained. Answer and analyze incoming internal and external customer communication and initiate action on the customer's behalf, either handling the situation individually or seeking assistance from other departments. Responsible for promoting fiber products and services to all members and Elevate customers. Requires continuous sitting and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and/or reaching. Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Hand and eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with members.
