Producer, Global Events (Contract)

GreenLight.ai, San Francisco, CA, United States

About The Team OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.

The Global Events team is a dynamic and ethos-driven group dedicated to crafting one-of-a-kind and extraordinary experiences that encompass OpenAI’s values and mission. Our team is driven by a deep passion for shining the spotlight on others and bringing people together to connect in meaningful ways.

The Events Production team, a sub-team of Events, collaborates with Event Managers to transform ideas into well-organized, immersive experiences that resonate with audiences and achieve business goals.

About The Role GreenLight is sourcing for an exceptional Event Producer (Contract) to join the Global Events team at OpenAI — someone who thrives in the controlled chaos of live production and knows how to turn ambitious ideas into beautifully executed experiences.

In this role, you’ll help bring some of OpenAI’s most visible moments to life — from developer events and global launches to product-driven experiences, enterprise events, and entirely new formats we haven’t invented yet. You’ll partner closely with teams across product, marketing, research, and leadership to translate big ideas into real-world productions that feel seamless, thoughtful, and distinctly OpenAI.

As a Producer, you’ll own the full production lifecycle — shaping concepts, building plans, managing vendors and partners, running timelines, and ensuring every detail lands with precision. This role sits at the intersection of creativity and operational excellence: equal parts builder, problem-solver, and calm presence when the stakes are high.

Our team takes pride in craft, notices the small things others miss, and moves fast without sacrificing quality. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in live production, stage management, or agency-side event production, along with a curiosity about AI and how it will shape the way people gather, learn, and connect.

This contract role is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid schedule (three days per week in office). Regular domestic and international travel is expected (~30%).

In this role, you will:

Manage stage productions: oversee content production, stage management, and AV coordination, ensuring all aspects of stage execution — from rehearsals to live production — run seamlessly.

Collaborate on event execution strategies: partner with event managers and business DRIs to shape event plans, aligning on vision, objectives, and goals to deliver impactful experiences.

Support creative production: collaborate with creative teams to bring bold ideas to life, ensuring the vision is translated into every detail of the event. Manage creative vendors and partners onsite to deliver exceptional experiences.

Source and negotiate vendors: identify and secure top-tier vendors, agencies, and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and build lasting partnerships.

Oversee risk management and contingency planning: secure necessary permits and insurance while managing risks and resolving onsite issues to keep events running smoothly.

Track budgets and financials: manage event production budgets meticulously, track expenses, and ensure events stay within allocated limits.

Coordinate project management: oversee detailed project workbacks, facilitate weekly progress meetings, and keep teams aligned on timelines and deliverables.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

Have 7 years of experience in production / stage management, event production, agency event management / production, or similar roles.

Find deep value in bringing your whole self to work, celebrating differences in perspectives, and prioritize bringing joy to the front of your projects.

Have a proven track record of managing budgets over $500k.

Thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy working across multiple events.

Understand the value of stagecraft, nuanced transitional scripting in show flow development, and how to translate brand values to stages and screens.

A strong working knowledge of full-stack event audio visual elements, including Audio, Video, and Lighting. An understanding of fundamental video and audio signal flows in event and broadcast environments while not required, is a plus.

A hunger and desire to keep on top of the latest cutting edge event technology, and a desire to elevate and drive improvement in event quality.

Demonstrate strong cross-functional team management experience, with a deep commitment to fostering open communication, embracing a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, and bringing your true self to work every day.

Enjoy finding innovative ways to use OpenAI tools and products to scale your team’s work.

Show a deep interest in artificial intelligence that benefits all of humanity.
