Overview

The Social Media Student Coordinator supports the School of Education’s marketing and communications initiatives by creating, managing, and analyzing content across social media platforms. This role helps elevate the visibility of academic programs, student success stories, faculty expertise, events, and community partnerships through strategic storytelling and brand-aligned content. This position provides hands-on experience in digital marketing, analytics, content production, and higher education communications while supporting recruitment and reputation goals. Responsibilities

Content Creation & Publishing

Create, edit, and publish engaging content (posts, reels, stories, graphics, and short-form video) for the School of Education social media platforms. Ensure alignment with UVU brand and accessibility standards.

Video Production & Photography

Capture photo and video content at events, classrooms, conferences, and community initiatives. Produce short-form video optimized for social channels.

Content Calendar & Campaign Planning

Maintain and update a strategic content calendar aligned with recruitment cycles, events, and institutional priorities. Support campaign ideation and execution

Community Engagement & Account Management

Monitor social media engagement, respond to comments and messages under supervision, and foster a positive online community presence.

Analytics & Reporting

Track performance metrics including engagement, reach, and growth. Provide monthly summaries and insights to inform strategy.

Story Development & Interviews

Interview students, alumni, and faculty to create authentic storytelling content highlighting program impact.

Qualifications

Must be a current UVU student. Must provide class schedule at time of application. Preferred major in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Education, or related field. Preferred experience managing social media accounts or creating digital content. Portfolio or examples of work preferred. Knowledge

Social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn). Digital trends and short-form video best practices. Branding and audience engagement fundamentals. Basic familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools. Skills

Strong written and verbal communication. Creative content ideation and storytelling. Basic photo/video editing. Organization and time management. Ability to interpret analytics and recommend improvements. Abilities

Create engaging, student-focused content. Work independently while meeting deadlines. Represent the School of Education professionally online. Adapt quickly to platform updates and trends. Exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
