
Commodities IT Business Analyst

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Commodities IT Business Analyst for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Capital Markets clients in mid‑town Manhattan, New York, NY.
This role is hybrid (2–3 days onsite per week in NYC). Toronto candidates may also be considered.
Responsibilities
Gather, analyze, and document detailed business and functional requirements across commodities trading workflows
Support and enhance commodities trading platform capabilities (Openlink Endur preferred)
Partner directly with Traders, Operations, Product Control, and Technology teams
Support physical trade lifecycle from capture through settlement and inventory management
Assist with forward curve setup, pricing logic, and end‑of‑day P&L processes
Support physical inventory tracking and financing workflowsWrite detailed functional specifications for development teams
Participate in Agile/Scrum sprint cycles
Support UAT execution, defect triage, and production issue resolution
Contribute to major initiatives including the buildout of an in‑house Order Management System (OMS) and the launch of Agriculture trading activity
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years IT Business Analyst experience within Commodities trading environments
Strong Commodities experience required – Precious Metals highly preferred (largest business exposure)
Current trading book includes: Precious Metals, Energy, Agriculture, and Emissions
Experience supporting physical commodities trading workflows
Experience working with a commodities trading platform:
Openlink Endur strongly preferred
Commodities experience with another trading platform will be considered
Solid understanding of trade lifecycle (front‑to‑back)
Experience with commodity forward curves and pricing fundamentals
Experience writing detailed functional specifications for development teams
Strong communication skills with ability to work directly with traders
Basic SQL knowledge for data validation
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience across multiple commodity types (Metals, Energy, Agriculture, Emissions)
Experience launching new commodity products or desks
Prior experience at an investment bank, utility, commodities trading firm, or CTRM software vendor
Exposure to Murex (nice‑to‑have)
Experience working in Agile delivery environments
