Distribution Designer

Join our team as a Distribution Designer working in our local service territory (no overnight travel). In this role you will plan, design, and coordinate projects for the construction of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities. Our designers work on a wide range of projects which can include system improvements, road moves, newly platted subdivisions, and other modifications to the system. Location Work for this position can be performed both on‑site at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd, Ramsey, MN 55303, and from your local home office, as duties require. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements, hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.

Compensation Anticipated hiring pay is between $37.45 and $49.15. The final compensation offered is based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience and skill level. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 5% based on company performance.

In This Position You Will

Design, stake and manage projects

Ensure design and staking meets NESC and company standards, specifications and all applicable codes

Interpret construction plans and design to avoid conflict with other utilities and proposed construction work

Prioritize work to ensure system designs result in a reliable distribution system

Maintain job notes, statuses, and other information

Attend project site visits and planning meetings

Operate computer software applications to aid in preparing construction work orders

Communicate effectively with and between internal and external customers, construction crews, and others

Interface and meet with customers/members as necessary to address concerns and questions

Need To Have

Associates or technical degree in Electrical Technology, GIS, Engineering, Project Management, Construction or related field AND 2+ years’ experience in electrical utility design

Bachelor's degree in GIS, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Business or related field

Highly effective communication, customer service, and innovative problem‑solving skills

Strong collaboration and team building skills

Highly motivated and able to work independently

Working knowledge of MS Office and related systems

Current and valid driver's license

Nice To Have

Line design certification

Working knowledge of GIS systems

Knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes

Exceptional project management skills
