Director of Technical Services

Overview The Director of Technical Services provides strategic leadership and technical direction for all engineering, maintenance, and automation functions across our manufacturing operations. This role ensures plant reliability, operational efficiency, and the successful execution of capital and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with corporate growth objectives. The ideal candidate is an accomplished technical leader with a strong background in food and beverage processing, capital project management, and process automation in a collaborative, fast-paced, and performance-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight and leadership to engineering, maintenance, and technical service teams across multiple facilities.

Direct capital project planning, design, budgeting, and implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals and ROI expectations.

Lead automation and controls initiatives, including PLC programming and process integration, to optimize reliability and performance.

Drive continuous improvement programs to enhance equipment uptime, energy efficiency, and maintenance effectiveness.

Develop and implement technical standards, equipment specifications, and preventive maintenance strategies.

Partner with cross-functional leaders in Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to support innovation and manufacturing excellence.

Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure project quality, safety, and compliance.

Mentor and develop technical professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field required); advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive technical leadership experience within food and beverage manufacturing or a related process industry.

Demonstrated expertise in capital project management, automation/PLC systems, and technical team leadership.

Proven track record in equipment maintenance, utilities, and process optimization.

Experience with aseptic processing or filling systems preferred.

Strong analytical, strategic planning, and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to influence at all levels of the organization.
