Summary The Director of Physician Practice Operations leads a team of Practice Managers accountable for cost effectiveness/financial management, access to services, engagement in quality and customer satisfaction efforts supportive of regulatory requirements and value based reimbursements, member satisfaction and teamwork with operational areas. The Director pursues organizational goals as assigned through effective performance management, workforce planning, budgetary oversight, and metric administration. The Director manages the details of revenues and expenditures within budgeted plans, develops strategies for growth, ensures positive interactions with third parties (i.e., payers, outside agencies, patients), leads staff and manages personnel issues, completes timely reports, development of communication with physicians and organization; strategic planning and implementation, the fostering of a positive and professional image for the practices and the organization within the greater community and maintains high standards of quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
Hires, leads and develops assigned team of subordinate leaders, each responsible for an assigned cross-section of practice network operations. Fosters independence and autonomy through the delivery of timely, thorough, and constructive feedback on performance. Distills strategic direction and goals nested within own assigned priorities.
Develops cross-functional relationships as a champion of patient care, quality, and professionalism. Collaborates with providers and cross-functional peers as a resource for decision-making, problem-solving and to support strategic initiatives and goals across the system of care.
Develops and administers the capital and operating budgets for area of responsibility. Monitors performance to budget and implements corrective actions as necessary. Analyzes relevant performance metrics (financial, qualityand customer service) and implements corrective action as necessary. Oversees ongoing performance improvement activities. Directs preparation of statistical information and reports as required.
Ensures adherence to provider contracts and facilitates accurate compensation payouts.
Leads and directs project-based work by organizing and maintaining records of goals and associated tasks. Communicates with key stakeholders as to the status of projects while supporting their needs. Engages in understanding of business plans for new practice acquisitions and ensures onboarding process and practice implementations are successful.
Develops and fosters a collaborative relationship with providers, managers, team members through regular meetings and general visibility. Communicates with provider leaders, providers and staff regarding trends and incidents on performance, environment, metrics and workplace satisfaction, especially those pertaining to opportunities for operational improvement.
Other Information Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven (7) years of healthcare experience.
Five (5) years of management experience in a practice or practice network covering multiple providers
Preferred
Master’s Degree in Business Administration or similar
Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) as issued by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)
