Ophthalmic Photographer (FGP) – Manhattan, Ophthalmology. Responsibilities
Performs ophthalmic photography. Modifies equipment for each test. Takes images of patients using specialized equipment including, but not limited to, ocular fundus imaging systems (FA, ICG), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Corneal Topography, Specular Microscopy, and Photo Slit Lamp Biomicroscope, as requested by the physician. Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents. Ensures adequate supplies for patient care; works with supervisor to place orders in a timely manner. Receives supply orders and confirms delivery accuracy. May train and educate others in the Department of Ophthalmology in ophthalmic photography techniques and protocols. Maintains a clean and sterile environment. Adheres to infection control precautions. Complies with HIPAA and Privacy & Security policies. Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times. Prepares materials for audio-visual presentations, publications, lectures, and exhibits. Handles requests from faculty, residents, and fellows for preparation of materials for educational, research, and clinical presentations or uses. Identifies problems or malfunctions of photographic, diagnostic, and related equipment. Assists in minor adjustments and preventive maintenance per established procedures. Alerts supervisor to issues requiring vendor repair. Assists with image-archiving and storage; manages duplicates and escalates problems with image capture as needed. Obtains pre-procedural consent forms and related documentation. Educates patients regarding medication administration and pre- or post-operative procedural instructions as directed by the ophthalmologist. Monitors patients’ conditions and reactions during imaging for Fluorescein Angiography (FA) and documents in the EMR. Notifies the physician as needed. Photographs ocular phenomena to document diseases, surgeries, treatments, and congenital problems to aid ophthalmologists in diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Minimum Qualifications
To qualify you must have: High School Diploma or equivalent. Two or more years of related experience, including at least one year as an Ophthalmic Photographer with experience in retina. Knowledge and proficiency in diagnostic testing, including ultrasound, OCT, Goldmann and Humphrey visual fields, A- and B-scan, Corneal Topography, Corneal Pachymetry, and Heidelberg Retinal Topography. Preferred Qualifications
Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant (COA) or equivalent higher training. COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer), or equivalent higher certification. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
