About the Position
The Customs Brokerage Manager is responsible for overseeing all import and customs brokerage activities to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and internal operational procedures.
This leadership role ensures the accurate and timely completion of import transactions while managing brokerage staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and optimizing customs processes. The position plays a key role in protecting the company and its clients by ensuring all import documentation, duties, and regulatory requirements are handled correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily import and customs brokerage operations.
- Ensure compliance with all U.S. customs laws, regulations, and internal procedures.
- Manage the timely and accurate processing of import documentation and customs entries.
- Supervise and mentor brokerage staff to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, customs officials, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor regulatory updates and implement process improvements to maintain compliance.
- Support client service initiatives by ensuring efficient customs clearance and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and reduce risk.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in customs brokerage, international logistics, or freight forwarding.
- Prior leadership or management experience within a brokerage or import operations team preferred.
Certifications / Credentials
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker required.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and import compliance requirements.
- Experience managing import documentation and customs entry processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Experience with customs brokerage software and logistics management systems preferred.
