Human Resources Specialist Transfer Opportunity
Job number: USDC 26-12 Closing date: March 19, 2026 Starting salary: $60,610 - $98,524 (CL 27) Depending on experience and qualifications; Transfers within the Judiciary will be considered up to their current grade. Location: San Antonio, Texas Position open to current Federal Judiciary employees only. The Office of Human Resources for the United States District Court, Probation Office, and Pretrial Services Office is currently seeking a self-motivated professional with initiative and maturity for the position of Human Resources Specialist. The selected candidate will join our six-person HR team who provide support to approximately 700 employees, including numerous federal judges, in seven divisional offices and two satellite offices. Assist and advise judges and employees on human resources, payroll and benefit related matters, and ensure requested actions meet applicable policies and deadlines. Process a variety of human resources and payroll actions such as appointments, promotions, separations, and changes to benefit elections. Maintain automated personnel records system (HRMIS). Maintain electronic database to track a variety of processes and actions. Monitor, troubleshoot, and advise employees on time and attendance rules and regulations utilizing an automated leave tracking system (PeopleSoft). Conduct recruitment activities, which include creating and distributing announcements, screening applicants, coordinating employment testing, scheduling and participating in interviews, reference checks, and conducting background/fingerprint checks. Demonstrate sound ethics, good judgement, and exercise discretion in a variety of contexts. Interprets policies and procedures. Prepares ID cards, badges, and credentials. Performs administrative and operational support. Creates and maintains electronic personnel records. Prepare HR-related communications in Outlook. Collaborates with Human Resource staff to develop best practices and foster idea generation. Assists with special projects. May perform clerical support duties, order supplies, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Preferred Qualifications

Required/Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in human resources or a related field of study. At least two years of specialized experience in human resources within the federal judiciary required. Must have Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat proficiency. Outstanding customer service and professionalism required. Proven accuracy skills and proven ability to maintain confidentiality and to build trust with employees. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing Proven ability to multitask, to work on own, meet short deadlines, remain calm in stressful situations, and a strong propensity for common sense thinking.
