The Credit Underwriting Team Lead is an experienced professional role which integrates in-depth specialty knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices; demonstrates good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Responsibilities: Provide support to the underwriting manager in managing workflow, reviewing underwriting pipeline reports, and handling escalations. Perform daily pipeline review to ensure loans are reviewed within business service level agreements. Provide support with training new hires. Underwrite highly complicated transactions and remain in production as required to maintain signing authority. Analyze loan scenarios and answer questions on escalated loans, providing resolutions. Review and analyze procedures for more efficient and cost-effective ways of handling the workflow. Act as Underwriting Subject Matter Expert for special projects. Maintain Daily Control Tracking reports for ARCMs (Activities, Risks, Controls, and Monitoring) and distribute to the appropriate channels. Adhere to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Perform other duties and functions as assigned Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of related experience, including underwriting agency, non-agency and reviewing appraisals. Demonstrated experience as a mentor and leader. Strong understanding of complicated mortgage transactions and tax return analysis. Excellent written and oral communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making. Education: High school diploma. Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience preferred.
