Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) is seeking a passionate, relationship-driven Community Engagement Manager to help build a community where every young person has the support they need to thrive. This role is ideal for a dynamic connector, someone who loves telling a powerful mission story, bringing people together, and translating community goodwill into meaningful action for youth experiencing homelessness in Metro Phoenix and Flagstaff.
As a key ambassador for HYC, you will cultivate relationships with individuals, businesses, and community partners, expand volunteer engagement, and inspire financial and in‑kind support that directly meets the needs of youth. The Community Engagement Manager strengthens HYC’s visibility, partnerships, and volunteer base by building and sustaining relationships throughout Metro Phoenix and Flagstaff. Working closely with the Development and Youth Services teams, this role connects community members to HYC’s mission through presentations, community events, volunteer opportunities, and in‑kind drives that support youth experiencing homelessness.
This is a full‑time position with a primarily daytime schedule and occasional evenings or weekends for community presentations, volunteer activities, and community events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with development team members to build community awareness and engagement opportunities for individuals and businesses, through presentations, lunch and learns, giving campaigns, and in‑kind drives.
Research and cultivate relationships with individuals, businesses, and community service organizations to engage with HYC as in‑kind and financial donors as well as volunteers.
Develop comprehensive knowledge of the HYC program as well as industry trends.
Conduct presentations to community groups to build agency awareness.
Actively participate in the community and be an ambassador for the organization.
Support communication efforts by providing content for newsletters, emails, blogs, and social media.
Support fundraising events, including third‑party events as well as HYC events.
Manage recruiting and screening new volunteers. Provide training and supervision of volunteers.
Work with volunteers individually and in groups to engage them in meaningful volunteer service.
Work with youth coaches and development team to identify client needs, manage in‑kind drives.
Oversee receiving, sorting, storage, and distribution of in‑kind donations in compliance with internal controls.
Responsible for tracking and inputting information in the donor/contact management system.
Acknowledge volunteers' in‑kind and financial donations in a timely manner.
Complete monthly report summaries of speaking engagements, volunteers, and project status.
Necessary Skills and Requirements Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to relate to large groups as well as individuals.
Proven non‑profit experience (fundraising, volunteer management, and in‑kind donations).
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy, and completion in a timely manner.
Experience working in diverse communities, including multiple generations (seniors, youth, working adults), as well as across ethnic and racial communities.
Strong command of MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, and proficiency in general office procedures and practices.
Reliable personal transportation with current registration and 100/300 level car insurance if applicable.
Valid Arizona driver's license.
Ability to pass a state and federal felony background check, including a fingerprint check or review of existing Level One fingerprint clearance card status.
