Summary The Portfolio Analyst is a member of Sequoia’s Investment Operations Department whose primary role is to lead the investment proposal process to construct deliverables for prospects and current clients with outside assets. The analyst will work closely with advisors on portfolio construction, security analysis, tax and transition analysis investment support. They will also partner with Marketing, Compliance, Investment Research and Advisory Leadership to execute and enhance the proposal process.

Responsibilities

Lead the investment proposal process to construct deliverables for prospects and current clients with outside assets.

Train colleagues on the process, maintaining procedures and user guides.

Pursue technology driven improvements to the proposal process.

Work with Marketing and Communications to ensure Sequoia geographies and channels have content that meets their advisor’s and client’s unique needs.

Engage with Investment Research on new developments in Sequoia investment platform, becoming an expert in all solutions as well as Sequoia market view and philosophy.

Monitor complex client portfolios, working with the advisors to maintain alignment with target allocations as well as communicate and execute changes.

Provide research and analysis on specific securities including individual stocks, mutual funds and ETFs for advisors.

Establish tax transition plans for tax sensitive clients, monitoring the tax budget while transitioning to the target allocation.

Review investment platform for advisors new to Sequoia, serve as a single point of contact going forward.

Maintain compliance with all internal policies and procedures.

Required Skills/Experience

Bachelor’s degree.

4-6 years of investment management or financial services experience.

Intermediate knowledge of financial markets.

Knowledge base of portfolio management, investment research or industry software (Morningstar, YCharts, FactSet, Bloomberg or equivalent).

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills/Experience

Progress towards professional designation or advanced degree such as CFP, CFA, CMT, CAIA, etc. is preferred.

Experience with model management or trading.

Experience with traditional Wealth Management custodians such as Charles Schwab or Fidelity.

Experience working with financial advisors or clients.

Comfort with ambiguity in portfolio construction.

Strong presentation skills along with the ability to concisely articulate complex financial concepts in verbal and written form.
