Our client is a well-established mechanical services organization supporting commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. As the business continues to grow and plan for long-term continuity, the organization is hiring an HVAC Inside Estimator / Sales professional to support service-related estimating and customer engagement across complex mechanical systems.
This role plays a critical part in translating technical HVAC knowledge into accurate estimates, responsive customer support, and well-scoped service solutions. The position supports both customers and internal service teams by ensuring repair, replacement, and maintenance opportunities are evaluated correctly and communicated clearly.
The Environment
The HVAC Inside Estimator / Sales professional works in a collaborative, office-based environment closely aligned with field technicians, service managers, and customers. The role requires strong technical understanding of HVAC equipment and systems, paired with the ability to evaluate needs, build estimates, and support service-driven sales activity. Work is primarily onsite and desk-based, with frequent interaction across service operations. Success depends on technical credibility, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to service-related requests. Key Focus Areas & What Success Looks Like
Success for the HVAC Estimator/Inside Sales includes: Preparing accurate service estimates for HVAC repairs, replacements, and maintenance work across commercial systems Applying hands-on technical knowledge to scope equipment needs, system configurations, and service requirements Supporting service teams by ensuring estimates reflect real-world system conditions and installation considerations Working closely with customers to clarify scope, answer technical questions, and support informed decision-making Contributing to consistent, professional service delivery through clear documentation and follow-through Supporting continuity and long-term growth as the organization plans for upcoming retirements and expanding service demand Qualifications
Five or more years of experience in HVAC as a technician, estimator, or service-focused sales professional Strong technical understanding of HVAC equipment and systems, including: Air handling units (custom and packaged), VAV, CAV, makeup air, and DOAS systems Rooftop units (packaged gas/electric and heat pump configurations) Chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled; screw, scroll, and centrifugal) Boilers (condensing and non-condensing; hot water and steam) Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, and related mechanical components VFDs, motor starters, and controls interfaces Comfort interpreting system requirements, efficiencies, tonnage, and accessory needs Experience supporting estimating or inside sales functions preferred Strong computer skills and ability to document scope clearly and accurately Clear communication skills and confidence interacting with customers and internal teams About Index Search
