Overview
The goal of the project is to create an operational volunteer base in East Alabama. Increase volunteer numbers from 100 to 300 resulting in 18 homes repaired and 35-50 children attending day camp. Anti-poverty focus area: Helping low-income families become more sustainable and stronger through home repair assistance and children’s resources. ARM will break the cycle of poverty by repairing 35 homes for people with low or extremely low incomes. ARM will provide a summer camp for 30 children with enrichment activities for underserved children in Tuskegee. The VISTA will build capacity by increasing ARM’s support networks through robust communication. Increase donor base by 10% and volunteers to 300.
Member Duties
Create a summer counselor media plan for mailing and electronic publication for summer counselors.
Create a team recruiting media plan for mailing and electronic publication for potential volunteer groups providing home repair and a children’s day camp.
Develop media plans for recruiting summer camp counselors and volunteers.
Publish a quarterly paper newsletter to 3500 people, publish in December, April, and August.
Publish four weekly e-newsletters to 2300 people.
Collaborate with all staff to collect and share the success stories of those being served and from volunteers.
Create monthly homeowner and volunteer updates for the website.
Create and post blogs and make regular and engaging social media updates across all ARM's social media platforms.
Three posts per week and one blog per month is the minimum.
Serve during monthly community service days, taking pictures and videos to publish on ARM’s YouTube Channel.
Program Benefits Relocation Allowance, Childcare assistance if eligible, Living Allowance, Education award upon successful completion of service, Training, Health Coverage*, Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend.
Terms Car recommended, Permits attendance at school during off hours, Permits working at another job during off hours.
