Overview

Armoire is seeking an experienced Freight & Carrier Optimization Consultant to evaluate and optimize our transportation network. This consultant will focus on carrier negotiations, freight cost analysis, billing reconciliation, and packaging optimization to reduce overall shipping costs while maintaining service levels. The consultant will analyze and manage an annual freight spend of approximately $2M, identify savings opportunities, and implement improvements in carrier strategy, contracts, and operational processes. This role will work closely with Operations and Finance leadership. Scope of Work

1. Freight Spend Audit & Billing Reconciliation

Review and reconcile historical carrier invoices (FedEx, USPS, regional carriers, freight providers). Identify billing errors, surcharge discrepancies, refund opportunities, and work directly with freight accounts to pay invoices and follow up on refunds/credits due Implement a repeatable process for ongoing freight billing reconciliation Provide monthly reporting on freight cost drivers 2. Carrier Contract & Rate Optimization

Review current carrier contracts, rate cards, and surcharge structures Benchmark rates against market standards Lead negotiations with carriers to improve pricing and service terms Identify opportunities to reduce accessorial charges and optimize service levels 3. Carrier RFP & Network Strategy

Design and execute carrier RFPs as appropriate Evaluate alternative carriers or regional solutions Recommend an optimized carrier mix based on cost, speed, and reliability Support implementation of any carrier transitions 4. Packaging & Dimensional Optimization

Evaluate current packaging for dimensional weight impact Recommend packaging improvements that reduce shipping cost Partner with warehouse leadership to test and implement packaging changes 5. Reporting & Insights

Build freight dashboards tracking: Cost per shipment Carrier mix Accessorial charges Service performance Provide actionable recommendations to leadership Performance Goals

The primary objective of this engagement is to

reduce Armoire’s freight cost per shipment while maintaining service levels and carrier reliability . Baseline Success Metric Achieve a

minimum 6% reduction in freight cost per shipment

through carrier negotiations, packaging optimization, billing reconciliation, and network improvements. Target Goal Achieve an

8% reduction in freight cost per shipment within the first 6 months of engagement . These improvements may be achieved through: Carrier contract renegotiation Accessorial charge reduction Packaging dimensional weight optimization Improved carrier mix Billing error recovery and reconciliation Savings will be evaluated based on

cost per shipment compared to historical baseline , accounting for volume fluctuations. Deliverables

The consultant will provide: Freight spend analysis and identified savings opportunities Carrier rate benchmarking report Negotiated carrier pricing improvements (where applicable) Packaging optimization recommendations Freight reporting dashboard and documentation Implementation roadmap for ongoing freight management Qualifications

7+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain strategy Demonstrated experience managing

$1M+ annual freight spend Proven success negotiating with parcel carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, regional carriers) Strong knowledge of

parcel pricing structures, dimensional weight, and accessorials Experience running

carrier RFPs Strong analytical and financial modeling skills Ability to work independently and deliver measurable cost improvements Contract Details

15 hours per week Compensation: $80/hour Estimated Annual Contract Value: ~$62,400 Location: Remote with collaboration with the Armoire operations team. Salary
