Job Description 2026-2027: Media/Technology Director
Media/Library Specialist Certification
Performance Responsibilities:
Collaborates with classroom teachers in the teaching of information literacy skills, use of the library and resources.
Assists teachers in the use of media materials, equipment and approved network software.
Maintains an inventory of all media center materials and equipment.
Organizes all media center materials and equipment for access by staff and students.
Works with administration to develop a budget that supports the curriculum and maintains equipment.
Coordinates material and equipment purchases with teachers, students, staff and parents in accordance with the district selection policy.
Supervises media staff, community and student helpers.
Serves on site and district committees.
Oversees the use of the media center and the computer lab.
Coordinates master schedule for all computer labs to accommodate benchmark testing.
Coordinates check out of technology equipment.
Sets up and facilitates technology presentations by staff and guest speakers as needed.
Coordinates database creation and maintenance. Is actively involved in professional growth activities.
Completes reports and other school-related paperwork as required within stated timelines.
Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties assigned.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Establishes clear procedures for student behavior in the Media Center and computer lab; monitors student behavior in both settings when needed.
Provides instructional plans aligned with national and state teaching standards developed to meet a diverse student population.
Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance.
Facilitates on-going professional development in the areas of technology and research for teachers.
Facilitates on-going opportunities for students to effectively use technology in the educational setting.
Collaborates with faculty and administration on selection of materials.
Able to assist students with material selection, research and exploration of information through a variety of resources—books, internet, almanacs, thesaurus, etc.
Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Weight limit/ lifting up to 20 pounds frequently.
Ability to bend and lift frequently.
Ability to squat occasionally.
Ability to stand/walk for periods of time for class instruction.
