
Carrier Sales Manager

Position Summary: The Carrier Sales Manager is responsible for sourcing and securing carrier capacity to support daily freight execution while meeting service expectations and margin objectives. This role focuses on transactional carrier procurement, relationship building, and execution support under the guidance of senior carrier sales leadership. Carrier Sales Representatives are expected to develop foundational market knowledge, communicate effectively with carriers, and execute loads with accuracy and urgency. This role is a key pipeline position for growth into senior carrier sales or leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
Carrier Sourcing & Execution
Source and secure carriers for available freight under established pricing guidance
Cover loads across core modes including Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed
Execute day-to-day carrier procurement to support customer freight movement
Escalate pricing or coverage challenges to senior carrier sales leadership as needed
Carrier Communication & Relationship Building
Communicate load details, expectations, and requirements clearly to carriers
Build and maintain working relationships with approved carrier partners
Support carrier onboarding and compliance processes
Maintain professionalism and responsiveness in all carrier interactions
Shipment Tracking & Issue Resolution
Track shipments from pickup through delivery
Communicate delays, issues, or changes to internal teams
Support resolution of service issues with guidance from senior team members
Systems, Accuracy & Process Adherence
Enter and maintain accurate load details in the TMS
Ensure loads are documented and ready for accounting
Follow standard operating procedures and escalation paths
Support billing accuracy and accessorial validation
Carrier Prospecting & Development
Prospect new carriers through outbound calls and approved databases
Collect carrier pricing and lane information
Support development of carrier coverage for repeat lanes
Qualifications & Skillsets

1–3 years of experience in logistics, brokerage, or transportation preferred
Foundational understanding of truckload and carrier markets
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Willingness to learn pricing, negotiation, and carrier strategy
Success Measures
Consistent load coverage and on-time execution
Accuracy in TMS entry and billing support
Responsiveness and communication quality
Growth in carrier knowledge and independence
