Position Title: SMCC Assistant Camp Director Reports to: Camp Director Date Prepared: January 2026 Department: SMCC Pastor/Executive Pastor Approval: Basic Purpose
Summarize the highlights of the position in terms of basic purpose and what it is supposed to accomplish. Support the Camp Director in daily camp operations and provide leadership to camp attendees and camp counselors. Key Role
List the Key Roles of the position that support the basic purpose Provide encouragement, guidance and support to campers and camp counselors Help guide staff with behavior management, activity execution, and professional conduct Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians when needed Act as a Leader on campus, modeling positive behavior, teamwork, and enthusiasm Step in as Director when Camp Director is unavailable Key Responsibilities
Provide a few key metrics applicable to the job which best describe its size and effect on the business (i.e., Operating Budget, Income). Assist Camp Director in planning, implementing, and overseeing daily camp activities Ensure camper safety and well-being by enforcing camp policies and responding appropriately to incidents or emergencies Communicate effectively with fellow counselors and Camp Director Support daily operations including scheduling, attendance tracking, transitions, and supply coordination Support camper supervision Other Responsibilities
Help chaperone children during off-campus field trips as needed Help facilitate the check-in/drop-off period in the morning and the pick-up time in the afternoon Skills, Knowledge, and Other Success Factors
List skills and knowledge required to perform the job effectively (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, functional policy knowledge). What type and level of training, experience and/or certifications are required to perform this job This leadership role is ideal for college-aged candidates (18+) Experience in working with children (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade) such as bible study, teaching, camp setting, etc.
