MLB Network seeks a Freelance Broadcast Operations Specialist to assist the Broadcast Operations team in responding to the operations, sales, and technical needs of MLB Network.
Responsibilities:
- Support department managers with daily responsibilities.
- Assist the traffic department with daily network log checks for accurate show timings, advertiser conflicts and commercial placements.
- Day of air, check in with Master Control, Tech Managers, and Acquisitions group prior to show shift to discuss production and operational plans.
- Monitor daily game and studio feeds to help ensure transmission is suitable for air. Compare and confirm game transmission sources with MLBN Master Control.
- Work alongside Sales, Production, and Programing departments to plan and manipulate live broadcast schedule as needed.
- Communicate day of air changes to Master Control and Traffic departments.
- Adjust daily live show memos as it relates to sponsorships change requests and commercial breaks as the day dictates.
- Provide rights holder commercial formats and listen lines to Production control room and Master Control during live no hitters and/or perfect games.
- React to programing updates, breaking news and Production needs with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy.
- Assign and establish MLB International game conference bridges.
- Assist Operations Managers in managing MLB Network captioning.
- Other such duties as required.
- A minimum of 2 years' applicable experience in the broadcast television operations industry is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel.
- Demonstrable basic knowledge of television production, operations and transmission. Knowledge of traffic systems is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor, organized, and detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate and make informed and effective decisions in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product in a dimly-lit control room environment.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
