Job Overview Come join my Life/Ent Freelance team at Business Insider! We are hiring an associate editor for a full-time, hybrid role based in NYC. Our small but mighty editorial team works with hundreds of freelance writers around the globe to publish dozens of stories a week. Key parts of the job include commissioning engaging lifestyle stories (from first-person essays to evergreen listicles), sourcing new writers to grow and diversify our roster, plus fact-checking, editing, and packaging stories — from smart SEO to clever headlines. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, keeps a close eye on rising trends, and has a true passion for the broad range of topics we cover across BI’s Life verticals (food, travel, fashion, interior design, unconventional living, and more). Experiencing editing and/or working with freelance writers is a plus. Responsibilities Commissioning engaging lifestyle stories (first-person essays to evergreen listicles). Sourcing new writers to grow and diversify our roster. Fact-checking, editing, and packaging stories, ensuring SEO optimization and clever headlines. Qualifications Experience in editing and/or working with freelance writers. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and spot rising trends. Passion for lifestyle topics (food, travel, fashion, interior design, unconventional living, etc.) and ability to write or curate content across these areas.
