Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are available in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.
We are seeking a Fashion Designer on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in NYC.
Responsibilities
Create original design concepts incorporating style, color, and fabric aligned with seasonal direction
Interpret fashion trends and translate them into commercially viable designs
Develop sketches and participate in seasonal design presentations
Partner with sourcing and materials teams to develop appropriate fabrics and trims
Provide basic fit guidance and body block input
Attend and contribute to fit sessions
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure design intent is maintained through development
Skills And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent experience
Relevant design experience required
Women’s wear experience required
Experience in Cut and Sew Knits required
Sweater design experience preferred
Strong understanding of fashion trends and fabric development
Ability to translate trend research into cohesive seasonal concepts
Strong sketching and presentation skills
