Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL), as well as two development league teams - the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). Who are we hiring?

This position will collaborate on the vision and lead the creation of all musical elements and live event presentations at NY Rangers, NY Knicks, and other MSG Sports Properties events. This role will be responsible for leading the creative direction of live musical performances in the Arena during Knicks and Rangers games. Additionally, the Music Director will work with in-house DJs and organists to curate all recorded music during each team's home games and in-game performances. This role will also lead the creation of certain intellectual property in the form of original music theme songs and show elements for both the Knicks and Rangers. This role will also oversee sound design for videos that run in the Arena, remixing popular songs, and producing the show opening sequences.

What will you do?

• Responsible for providing a premium audio entertainment experience for the Knicks and Rangers fans at each home game.
• Perform live music via the Organ at NY Knicks and NY Rangers home games to add to fan experience.
• Create/compose original musical theme songs and show elements for NY Knicks and NY Rangers
• Own the creation and production for MSG Sports Event Presentation show opening sequences (videos, light shows, player introductions, etc.)
• Produce and oversee sound design for all in-arena videos and social media/digital projects.
• Create remixes of popular songs to be used in various MSG Sports platforms.
• Act as Create Director to all live musical performances in the Arena during NY Knicks and NY Rangers games.
  • Curate celebrity guest musical performances
  • Re-Introduce the Blue Line Band at Rangers games.
  • Curate celebrity DJ performances
  • Develop classic New York DJ performances.
  • Reimagine the existing Guest DJ program.
  • Assist with National Anthem performances, booking, rehearsal, and accompanying.
  • Produce routines for Knicks City Dancers, Knicks City Kids
  • Oversee Karaoke, Finish the Lyric, and other music-themed show elements.
  • Develop new music-themed show elements.
• Develop and utilize a part time staff of in-house DJs and organists to help curate all recorded music for NY Knicks and NY Rangers home games.
• Operate and maintain a music studio and in-arena audio equip with familiarity of the following audio suite equipment: Mac Studio M2 Ultra Computer, Avid S1 Control Surface, Pro Tools Ultimate Software, Logic Pro Software, Apogee Symphony I/O, Genelec monitors and subs, Dangerous Monitor System, Empirical Labs Distressors, etc
• Proficiency with the following Arena Music Equipment: Roland AT-900 Organ, Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ Software, MOTU 1248 Audio Interface, 360 Systems Instant Replay 2, Allen & Heath QU-24 Digital Mixer
• Maintain robust music library and stay current on recent music trends and "hot" artists.

What do you need to succeed?

• 10+ years of previous experience with Music Direction in a similar sports/entertainment environment
• Applicants must submit a music track and/or video demonstrating their work. Candidates with skills beyond organ performance should include one organ track and one additional track in another style they have produced.
• Expertise with Pro Tools, Logic, and other music editing software
• Familiarity with Mac Studio M2 Ultra Computer, Avid S1 Control Surface, Apogee Symphony I/O, Genelect monitors and subs, Dangerous Monitor System
• Awareness and proficiency of Aquido Suite equipment plug ins such as Waves Mercury Bundle, Fabfilter Mixing Bundle, Izotope Music Production Suite, Natice Instruments, Superior Drummer
• Music background and understanding of sound components such as Empirical Labs Distressors, Rupert Neve Portico II, Teletronix LA-2A, Neumann U87, Shure SM7B, Schoeps Stereo CMC 6 + MK4, and Novation Launchkey 88 Controller
• Knowledge of sports (fans) (e., hockey and basketball) and entertainment elements
• Demonstrated experience working in intense, high-pressure
• Solution oriented thinking in a high-paced environment
• Thorough knowledge of music composition and structure
• Ability to react, juggle multiple tasks/events, and stay calm under

Pay Range

$83,000-$145,000 USD
