COOL Church Music Director (Part-Time)Miami Gardens, FL | Part-Time | Hourly/Comp Based on ExperienceReports To: Worship Pastor / Creative Leadership (as assigned)Works Closely With: Production Team, Campus Worship Leaders, Band & Vocal TeamsOverviewCOOL Church is seeking a Part-Time Music Director to help lead and strengthen the musical excellence of our worship ministry. This role exists to build confident, prepared worship teams by providing musical leadership, arrangement support, and rehearsal direction so that every service is worshipful, unified, and distraction-free.The ideal candidate is a skilled musician with strong music theory knowledge, band experience, orchestration ability, and production awareness, who can lead teams with humility, clarity, and joy.Primary Responsibilities1) Musical Leadership & Service PreparationProvide musical direction for weekend worship services and special events.Ensure band and vocal teams are musically prepared, unified, and confident.Support worship leaders by strengthening musical structure, transitions, and arrangements.2) Rehearsal Direction & Band DevelopmentLead or support weekly rehearsals with clear expectations, coaching, and musical excellence.Develop band members through constructive feedback, training, and consistent standards.Help build a culture of teamwork, preparedness, and spiritual unity within the worship ministry.3) Music Theory & Arrangement SupportApply strong music theory skills to support chord structure, voicings, harmonies, and musical dynamics.Create and refine arrangements that serve congregational worship and match COOL Churchs style.Assist with building chord charts, lead sheets, and musical resources for teams.4) Orchestration & Musical ExpansionSupport orchestration needs for special moments (strings, tracks, auxiliary instruments, layered arrangements).Help develop musical textures that elevate worship while maintaining simplicity and clarity.Coordinate additional instrumentation when needed for conferences, holidays, or major events.5) Worship Production & Technical CollaborationWork closely with the Production team to ensure worship sets are technically supported (tracks, stems, cues, click, playback).Assist with Ableton/track production workflows as needed.Support smooth transitions between musical and technical execution during live worship.6) Team Communication & Scheduling SupportAssist with band scheduling coordination and musician readiness in partnership with worship leadership.Communicate rehearsal expectations, resources, and updates clearly and consistently.How to Be Successful in This RoleWorship teams are prepared, confident, and unified each week.Musical arrangements enhance congregational worship without unnecessary complexity.Rehearsals are efficient, encouraging, and marked by excellence.Production and musical elements work together seamlessly in live environments.You embody COOL Church staff values and build a culture of joy and commitment.Performance Measures (What We Track)Rehearsal Effectiveness: teams prepared with minimal confusion or last-minute changes.Musical Excellence: consistent quality in timing, dynamics, transitions, and cohesion.Arrangement Support: charts/resources delivered on time and usable by volunteers.Team Development: musicians grow in skill, confidence, and spiritual unity.Production Integration: tracks/cues/stems executed smoothly in partnership with production.QualificationsRequiredStrong proficiency in music theory and practical band leadership.Experience directing or playing in live worship or professional band settings.Ability to create arrangements, coach musicians, and lead rehearsals.Understanding of worship production environments (click, tracks, cues, live mixing collaboration).Strong communication skills and a servant-hearted leadership posture.Alignment with COOL Church mission and staff values.Availability for Sundays and rehearsals.PreferredExperience with orchestration or layered instrumentation.Familiarity with Ableton Live, Multitracks, Planning Center, or similar tools.Church or ministry worship leadership experience.Culture Standards (COOL Church Values)Aware Reads the spiritual atmosphere, worship leader, band dynamics, and congregation in real time, adjusting musically to serve the moment without distraction.Disciplined Shows up prepared with structured rehearsals, clear arrangements, and consistent excellence in personal practice and planning.Committed Is fully aligned with the mission of COOL Church and consistently invests in building and developing musicians beyond just Sunday execution.Optimistic Brings joy, encouragement, and positive leadership into rehearsals and services, especially when challenges arise.Flexible Adapts quickly to changes in flow, timing, or production needs while remaining teachable and open to feedback.Magnetic Leads in a relational, humble way that musicians want to follow, building unity and trust across the team.Relentless Pursues musical and spiritual excellence continuously, refusing to settle for mediocrity while keeping the heart of worship first.Schedule ExpectationsPart-time role with Sunday service involvement required.Weekly rehearsal participation and additional hours around special events and seasonal services.
