Responsibilities As a Meteorologist, you’ll primarily focus on weather forecasting. By providing easy-to-understand weather updates, you’ll help our audience stay safe and informed. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.
Combine data and science with storytelling to deliver high-quality, informative weather forecasts.
Tell weather stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital.
Required Qualifications Experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts – 2+ years, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems
Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology
Knowledge of synoptic meteorology, tropical and radar
Ability to anticipate situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
Demonstrate enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news
Travel ability: open to travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community
Schedule: ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies; willing and able to work weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications National Weather Association (NWA) and/or AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal
Working knowledge of general office software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
May be required to lift up to five pounds
Working Conditions Works inside a climate-controlled environment; field duties may be assigned
Open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
Communicates in person, by phone, and by email
Materials and equipment used: studio, weather forecasting, and newsgathering television equipment, computers
Compensation and Benefits The base pay for this position generally is between $44,000.00 and $118,000.00 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and some positions are eligible for additional incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
